The Bible says in Ephesians 1:3 that God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. In other words, there is nothing that we require to fulfill our destinies in God that we do not have in Christ. 2 Peter 1:3 says, "His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness." While this is our spiritual reality in Christ, it is not a physical reality for many Christians today. They look around and wonder why these things that the Bible speaks of are distant to them. And they are tempted to call God unfaithful, but our God is not unfaithful. He is not a man that He should lie. If He said that you have all that you require, then you have all that you require!
What, then, is the problem for most Christians?
2 Peter 1:3 gives us one clue. The Scripture says that His divine power has given us everything we need, but only through our knowledge of Him. In other words, your access to what is rightfully yours in Christ is to the degree that you know that it is yours. If you have not come to know God as a Father who takes delight in the prosperity of His children, you will believe the lie that He puts sickness, poverty, and heaviness on you to teach you a lesson. And when your faith is founded on this lie, your experiences will flow out of what you have believed. Your faith will always deliver to you what you have believed. If your faith is in health, health will be your experience, but if you have believed that God wants you sick, your experiences can only be consistent with what you have believed.
A second hindrance to many Christians experiencing all that is theirs in Christ is dishonor. This is a very grievous issue of the heart that many Christians have trivialized. And their ignorance of the magnitude of this issue or callousness towards addressing it has made life hard for them. Honor is one key that will unlock favor, bypassing your ignorance because of the one to which your honor is directed. In other words, because of the one you honored, you can receive what would have otherwise eluded you. 2 Kings 4 tells of a woman who speaking of the Prophet Elisha, said to her husband, "Behold now, I know that this is a holy man of God who is continually passing our way. Let us make a small room on the roof with walls and put there for him a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp, so that whenever he comes to us, he can go in there." This couple chose to honor the man of God, Elisha, by preparing a room in their home where Elisha could stay whenever he was in town. And because of this act, Elisha asked, "What then is to be done for her?" Gehazi answered, "Well, she has no son, and her husband is old." He said, "Call her." And when he had called her, she stood in the doorway. And he said, "At this season, about this time next year, you shall embrace a son." And in a year, it was so according to the word of the prophet.
Today, I am saying to you, go for knowledge. Let your faith be founded on the accurate knowledge of God's Word. But above that, be wise to honor the men and women of God that God has placed around you. Because where your knowledge may not take you, the anointing upon these ones that God has placed in your life will take you.
God bless you.
Faith-Filled Confession:
Because I have chosen the path of honor, there is a flow of the blessings of God in my life. I declare that I am in health and strength. Wealth and riches are in my house. I have all that I require to fulfill God's purpose for my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
