“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times” Matthew 18:21-22
God’s mercy is unlimited. We can’t earn it through of good deed. It is a gift that is dependent on the character of the giver (God), not that of the receiver (us). Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” In other words, God’s love and mercy which was poured out on us had nothing to do with us. Ever before we did wrong, He loved and forgave us. So the day that you confessed your sin was not the day that God forgave you. Your confession only connected you to the reality of His forgiveness. Ever before you said, “Lord, I am sorry,” God already forgave you in Christ Jesus. The very day that the blood of Jesus was shed on the cross; your sins, past, and [peradventure ] future were completely forgiven. I like to say that Papa God forgave us from eternity to eternity and all we have to do is to receive His forgiveness as a gift.
Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” In other words, if God gave you the gift of forgiveness, you should be willing to do the same for others; anything short of that is pride. Pride is waiting for someone to earn your forgiveness. As a new creation in Christ, you do not have the luxury of waiting around for someone to crawl to your feet and apologize before you forgive them. It's best that you forgive ever before you are wronged.
Child of God, you are too beautiful to walk in unforgiveness. There is nothing in this world that anyone can say or do to change the reality of Christ in your life. Leave bitterness and unforgiveness to those without the beauty of God in their spirits. Do you not realize that you are the epitome of beauty? Has it ever crossed your mind that you are a heavenly manifestation; the outshining of Christ, and the most beautiful being to have graced the earth? Wake up and let go of the hurts of yesterday. Arise to your divinity and walk tall with love in your heart. Pour it out on those who misrepresented you and caused you harm in the past. Do not become a product of their bitterness or conform to their insecurities. Rise above it all and be the divine you that you really are. When they spill out anger and hatred towards you, respond with a tsunami of love and kindness. Praise God!
So I say to you today, do not be slow to forgive those who have wronged you and dare say do not keep record of wrong of such event. Let your forgiveness be limitless.
God Bless You!
Faith Filled Confession:
I am an oasis of God’s love and mercy to my world today. I dispense forgiveness to all who will speak ill of me today. In Jesus name.
