TRUE PROSPERITY

05/27/2024

"Proclaim again, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, “My cities shall again overflow with prosperity, and the LORD shall again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem’” (Zechariah 1:17).

True prosperity is not just in having burgeoning finances. No. It's in speaking the word of God in and out of season. The word translated as prosperity in today's theme scripture is the Hebrew phrase, "mit-towb" which means to speak well or the speak forth beautiful things.

Think about it for a second, the Bible says that God created the world and everything in it by the word of His mouth. Psalm 33:8-9 says, "Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast." God didn't need money to create the world. He had words for that.

Recognize that access to God's words was granted to you when you got born again and His Spirit took up residence inside you. 1 Corinthians 2:11-12 says, "For who among people knows the thoughts of a person except the spirit of the person that is in him? So also the thoughts of God no one knows, except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God."

Just knowing the things that have been freely given to us is not enough. For example, just knowing, while homeless,  that a bank account with $ 5 million and a piece of land in Dayton, or Guzape, Abuja, are in your name, will do you no good. You will need to put out a tender, hire a contractor, build a home, and make provisions for upgrades and maintenance.

The same way the Bible says, "But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God...These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual" (1 Corinthians 2:9-10,13).

Speaking is how God's influence over nations, circumstances, and time is brought to bear. As you speak to that man or woman to become a Christian; speak to the mind of that backslidden saint to be restored; speak to the car to function properly, and speak blessings to those clothes you have earmarked to give away, you are demonstrating true prosperity.

Prosperity is not always about money as so many have colored it to be. Money is just an offshoot of prosperity. Understand that God's utmost idea about you is prosperity and that true prosperity begins with the lavishness of God's words on your lips. 3 John 2 KJV says, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."

The one who prospers and continues prospering is one who speaks God's words copiously. As an aside, lock yourself in a room from time to time and just get lavish with speaking God's word about you, your purpose, and God's message that you are to the world. Nothing can keep you down.

Arise and prosper today! God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession

I arise with God's words on my lips, declaring that I am the head and not the tail. I am above only, and never beneath. I lend to nations and bring many people unto God in righteousness. The Greater One lives in me and I acknowledge that His life in me makes me excellent, continually, and in everything that I do. I am the glory of God on the earth such that wherever I am, people marvel and are drawn into the salvation of Jesus Christ that my life represents. Hallelujah!
