THE WILES OF THE ENEMY: VEILING MEANING

09/17/2023

"Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11).

When you encounter the word, "apocalypse," what comes to mind? Trouble, war, or the great tribulation? The Bible meaning of the word, "apocalypse" is revelation or unveiling. So how did the world come to interpret that word to mean something else? The answer is in 2 Corinthians 4:4. The New International Version of that verse says, "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

This is why believers cannot afford to adopt the meanings that the world gives to certain things. For example, Colossians 2:20-21 says, "Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—"Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle," Paul queries the saints for conforming to the basis principles of the world.

Satan tells you through the basic principle of this world that if you touch a flu-infected person, the meaning is that you will catch the flu, and you believe him. But he knows that it is a play on your ignorance that when you touch an infected person, according to the Sovereign declaration of Lord in whom all authority is vested, that person gets well. "...They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover" (Mark 16:18).

This is why you must maintain what I call the Romans 3:4 attitude: the "Let God be true and every man a liar" attitude. And to do this, God's Word must be the only frame from which you think. If you encounter something that you don't understand, don't accept it until you have put it through the thinking frame of the Word.

The enemy masquerades by introducing his own meaning to veil the meaning that God's people ought to have, and it's a device for producing limitations in the Church. If God has said something, that's what it is. No "ifs," "buts" or "perhaps."

Have a brilliant day!

Faith-Filled Confession

I apply God's meaning to every aspect of my existence because in Him, I have peace. In the world, all they have is tribulation, so I overcome the world by the peace emanating from His Word. Glory!
