"Then comes the tribe of Benjamin, and the leader of the children of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni." (Numbers 2:22)
The Tribe of Benjamin is a foreshadowing of the Church. The Bible says that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16). Meaning that every scripture is layered with many levels of meaning. The deeper you dig into the scriptures, the more valuable the treasure you will find.
In today's theme scripture, the Lord describes the qualities that indicate and translate to leadership in the Body of Christ, and it is not what any business school or leadership institute might suggest.
But before I get ahead of myself, leadership is influence. It is the ability to elicit followership in any facet of people interaction. Within the Body of Christ, there are assemblies that lead other assemblies. But more poignantly, in professions, businesses, and every other work of life, the Church, the tribe of Benjamin, ought to exercise influence. We ought to be the pace setters.
So how does the church exercise influence? We do it by Abidan, born out of Gideoni. Abidan in Hebrew means the worship of God the Father. And this type of worship is not the very solemn type but the type born out of victory or a sense of superiority. This worship is born out of Gideoni. Gideoni in Hebrew refers to bruising. Genesis 3:15 says, "And I will put enmity Between you and the woman And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."
Question: Has the woman's Seed accomplished Gideoni over the enemy? Emphatically yes! Colossians 2:15 Amplified version tells us, "When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross."
In other words, only your worship of the Father that is founded in the finished works of Jesus Christ can procure leadership for you. This is the secret of growth and influence in any area. Jeremiah 30:19 says, "Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small."
This is exactly what Romans 8:37 means when it says, "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." There is no more struggle to grow the Church, to grow in your career, or to grow your business; just worship the Father in the finished work of Jesus for which you are the principal beneficiary. And then act in the direction you want to influence and lead others.
Worship the Father today because sin no longer has dominion over you (according to Romans 6:14). Worship the Father because the handwriting against you has been blotted out (according to Colossians 2:14). Worship Him because you have been made to sit together with Christ in God's Throne Room, far above all rule and authority (according to Ephesians 1:21). Hallelujah! You don't have to feel it; just worship!
Have a blessed day!
Faith-Filled Confession
I worship God on the strength of Christ's finished work. I have passed conquering. Hallelujah! Therefore, people, materials, and circumstances line up for the exaltation of the Father throughout my life. I am a Wonder because God has made me so. Glory!!!!
