"Now the cities of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho and Beth-hoglah and Emek-keziz..." (Joshua 18:21)
The third quality of God's people as the prophetic tribe of Benjamin is signified by the third city of Benjamin, Emek-Keziz. The Hebrew translation for Emek-keziz is the valley of separation.
Valley, in prophetic language, represents a state of consciousness or mindset. In essence, the Church are those who embody the consciousness of separation from the world. 2 Corinthians 6:17 says, "Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you."
One way that the Church would fulfill its prophetic destiny in the words of the Patriarch, which is that "Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; In the morning he shall devour the prey, And at night he shall divide the spoil" (Genesis 49:27) is to maintain its consciousness of separation or sanctification.
We are not like the rest of the world. We, therefore, cannot talk, dress, behave, or conduct life like them. We are a people separated unto God. 1 Peter 2:9 says, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
The importance of being a people of the valley of separation is that our minds are configured to think contra the rest of the world. We have and are charged to maintain the separation or sanctification of our minds by aligning our thoughts with God's Word. Our thoughts influence our words which in turn influence our actions and then our outcomes in life. Therefore, Phillippians 4:8 emphasizes this separate consciousness that we must maintain when it says, "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."
If we are going to fulfill the destiny of victory to which we have been ordained, our thoughts must center on our sanctification from the rest of the world. And the place to start is learning to meditate on the Word of God daily until the only way you think is how the Lord wants you to think.
Have a blessed day!
Faith-Filled Confession:
I embody the valley of separation that God has set between Zion and the rest of the world. I think, speak, act, and ultimately produce results based on this separation that God has established between me and the world so much that I am a wonder to many. In Jesus' name. Amen.
