THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION

02/13/2023

"[I] do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him" (Ephesians 1:16-17)

There are two very important dimensions of the Holy Spirit that are required to function as a steward of Jesus Christ. Now, the Bible is replete with information on how to, for example, manage your character, maintain your spiritual fervour and regulate other aspects of your Christian experience. However, in the matter of effective stewardship, you need to the conversant with the Spirit of God in the dimensions of wisdom and revelation.

And before I get to the point of explaining the reason why you must become conversant with the Holy Spirit in His manifestations as the Spirit of Wisdom and the Spirit of Revelation, it is imperative to understand that the Holy Spirit reveals Himself all through the scriptures in seven dimensions. Isaiah 11:1-2 says, "Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch from his roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD." The Spirit of  God in the dimension of revelation is known in Isaiah 11 as the Spirit of understanding.

When you become acquainted with the Holy Ghost in the dimensions of wisdom and revelation of Jesus, you get inundated with light in three aspects of your stewardship; the hope of your calling, your own portion of the inheritance laid up for the saints and the exceeding reservoir of power accessible to believers.

The hope of your calling is the guaranteed result of your assignment. It is the heavenly vision that orients your action. This vision or revelation ensures that you know that, to which you are called and do not go off in the wrong direction. Paul knew that he was called to the Gentiles by the operation of the Spirit of wisdom and Revelation and so he was not disobedient to the heavenly vision (according to Acts 26:19). You will know exactly your call even within the call on our congregation once you engage the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation.

The second thing that will become a present awareness is the spiritual resources available for the execution of your call among the saints. It may be a spiritual gift, compassion directed at a people group or cause, a special natural ability or a combination of two or more of these to help you fulfil your stewardship to God.

Lastly, you will come to an awareness of the exceeding greatness of God's power to enforce or back your call. Every believer is a demonstrator of the power of God and you cannot exert power that you are not aware of. 1 Corinthian 4:20 says, "For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power." As a steward of the all-powerful God, an allotment of power has been made available to you to be God's change agent in your world. The Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation will give you insights into this power as it specifically relates to your stewardship.

Now to engage the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation requires praying in the manner that Paul teaches in Ephesians 1:16-21. Pray this scripture as often as possible and let the Holy Spirit make these elements of your stewardship known to you.

Have a beautiful day!

Faith-Filled Confession

I acquaint myself with the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the knowledge of Jesus. The awareness of every element of my stewardship is present with me and with the light that I receive, I make progress in the fulfilment of God's call on my life. Hallelujah!!
