THE SEED OF YOUR GIFT AND TALENT

03/04/2024

"She will chase her lovers, But not overtake them; Yes, she will seek them, but not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go and return to my first husband, For then it was better for me than now.’ For she did not know That I gave her grain, new wine, and oil, And multiplied her silver and gold— Which they prepared for Baal" (Hosea 2:7-8).

A great man of God once said, "When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable." There are many things that God gives to His children that often get taken for granted. For some, it's the ability to sing, organize events, or even write poetry. These people, born again, as it were, try to gain recognition in the world system to no avail. They sometimes, think to themselves, if I could only meet so-and-so or get endorsements from so-and-so, I could go viral and my abilities will receive acclaim. The problem with such thinking is that the reason for the lack of recognition for their talents is twofold. Jesus said, "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you" (John 15:19). The other reason is that God is the one doing the resisting so that you will seek His way of doing. Proverbs 3:34 says, "Surely He [Yeho-Shua] scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble."

You see, the world system has its way of doing things and it involves selling, deceiving, borrowing, stealing and even, killing. The world system takes after its master, the devil (according 2 Corinthians 4:4). However, you are of a different system, the Kingdom of God system, and in this system, seedtime and harvest is how the system operates. Interestingly, our Lord says our priority ought to be understanding how the Kingdom of God system works. Matthew 6:33 AMP says, "But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also."

What this means is that you ought to start by sowing that gift of singing, organizing events, or writing poetry as a seed. Now, we know that the seed is the Word of God (according to Luke 8:11), meaning that your talents and gifts ought to be vessels for the seed of the Word of God. For example, if your gift is writing drama sketches, write scripts that validate the Word of God. Next, you need to locate good ground to plant the seeds. Here, we know that good ground that yields a great harvest (according to Luke 8:15) is the unencumbered and receptive hearts of the saints, including you.

In other words, for these ones that are in the house desiring acclaim for their gifts and talents, your path to greatness is in wrapping the Word of God in your gifts and talents and planting it in the hearts of saints. This is the legitimate path to the recognition and prominence that God put in your heart. Every other way to that innate desire for recognition and prominence will lead to compromise on the standards of God's Word.

Use your talents and gifts as seeds and watch God's system work to your advantage in due season. Proverbs 22:29 KJV says, "Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men." Whatever your gifts or expertise is, being in a church as ours is ample opportunity to sow. Refuse to observe the winds of opinion that your gifts or specialties are too good or not good enough for sowing. Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, "He who observes the wind will not sow, And he who regards the clouds will not reap."

Sign up to serve others with your gift and specialty by talking to a life group leader, department leader, or pastor today and watch how, by this process, an unimaginable harvest would be set in motion.

Have a great day!

Faith-Filled Confession:

I walk circumspectly this year, choosing the Kingdom of God's system of sowing and reaping. And as I scatter the seed of my gifts and talents on the good ground of the hearts of the saints, the LORD grants me unimaginable increases such that His commission on my life is effectively and promptly accomplished in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
