THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

1/8/2026

John 14:26

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

Jesus promised that He would not leave us as orphans when He physically departed from the earth (John 14:18). Instead, He promised to send the Holy Spirit—One who would be just like Him. In Acts 2, the Bible records the fulfillment of that promise when the Spirit of God was poured out, and He has remained with believers ever since. You and I are here today because of the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Some may ask, “Is it necessary for every believer to have the Holy Spirit?”

The answer is a resounding YES.

If Jesus Himself believed it was necessary for us to have the ministry of the Holy Spirit, why would anyone think otherwise? Jesus said in Matthew 28:20, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” He is with us today in the person of the Holy Spirit. In other words, the ministry of the Holy Spirit is the presence of Jesus in our lives.

To reject the Holy Spirit is to reject Jesus. The Holy Spirit is Jesus without a physical body. Therefore, do not allow anyone to convince you that the Holy Spirit is an optional add-on to the Christian life. No—absolutely not. The Holy Spirit is essential.

The ministry of the Spirit is vital in the life of every believer. It is impossible to live the Christian life apart from the Holy Spirit. Every believer must not only be baptized in the Spirit but also learn to recognize and yield to His leading daily.

Romans 8:9 makes this unmistakably clear:

“If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.”

The Holy Spirit is not optional. He is foundational.

For this reason, we must pray for the ministry of the Holy Spirit to become a living reality in the life of every believer across the earth.

Prayer Points

  • Thank God for the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life.

  • Pray for increased sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

  • Ask for the stirring of every dormant gift within you, and declare that you have the Spirit of excellence for maximum productivity in all that you do.

  • Pray that the Church worldwide will recognize, honor, and depend on the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

  • Pray for an outpouring of divine ideas and strategies in your nation, declaring that the Holy Spirit will empower God’s people with solutions to every challenge.

Faith-Filled Confession

I am never alone. I recognize the ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life, and I yield myself to His leading. By the Holy Spirit, I am enabled to accomplish greater works. Thank You, Father, for the manifestation of Your power and ability in my life, my family, and my community, in Jesus’ name.

Amen.
