THE LIGHT OF GOD

"In Him [the Word] was life, and the life was the light of men" (John 1:4).

You cannot have the life of God in you and be anything else other than an offspring of Deity. You can't be Christian and bear any other identity from the perspective of the spirit realm. Spiritually speaking, you cannot be Christian and American or Christian and Black or Hispanic. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." The life you received when you declared Jesus as your owner (according to Romans 10:9-10) is a life that bears no affinity to any social extraction. 

In Christ, what you might recognize as your nationality, gender, or sexual orientation is subsumed completely such that the only affinity you have is to God. Galatians 3:28 says, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." The moment you said yes to Jesus, you stopped being American, Nigerian, Black, White, Hispanic, or anything else. 2 Corinthians 5:16 says, "Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer."

Furthermore, you were no longer allowed to take sides with any part of society based on skin color, creed, or sexual orientation. You became a vessel of the Holy Spirit whose only agenda to the people of the world is to testify of Jesus. In John 15:26, the Master says, "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me."

When Joshua encountered who he later realized was the Holy Spirit, enquiring if He was for them or their adversaries, the Spirit of God replied, "...No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?" (Joshua 5:14). The Chief Witness of Jesus only takes Jesus' side, and so should we. 

Hear me, our only allegiance is to Jesus and His agenda on earth. The inequities that you observe in the world because of race, gender, sexual orientation, and culture exist because too many have yet to receive the life that gives men the light of God. This is the light that enters a person when he/she becomes born again such that every other identity falls away. Paul testified about this in Philippians 3:5-7 saying, "I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin—a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done "(New Living Translation).

If you are born again and still claiming some affinity to a race, nationality, or other earthly identity, then the light of life you have received has not yet dawned on you. Take some time today to meditate on 2 Corinthians 4:6, which says, "For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." And if somehow, you have given your life to Jesus and are confused or being shamed in your thoughts because of the resurgence of habits from your former life, remember that "In Him [the Word] was life, and the life was the light of men." (John 1:4). Meditate on the scriptures in today's devotional until the light dominates how you see yourself and refuse to succumb to the lies being hauled at your mind. You are God's absolute best!

Faith-Filled Confession

I see myself with the light of God. I originate in God, and by extension, I am God's ambassador and emblem on earth. I have no affinity or allegiance to the causes that move people to take opposing sides with each other; rather, I am a force for righteousness in Christ Jesus, a preacher of faith and repentance toward God, and a mediator between God and people. I dominate my mind and every dissenting voice today. In Jesus' Name. Amen

Prayer Points

Pray for school boards, fire departments, and local police across America. Pray that the purposes of our Lord the Savior are established through their work; that mass salvations and the proliferation of the truth of the gospel are the outcome of all the work that these people put in. 

Pray that a fresh revelation of the Name, essence, and agenda of Jesus Christ seizes the public imagination in America and that before the end of this year, films, books, and legislation that normalize salvation and the truth of the Gospel become widespread across the country. 

Lastly, pray for evangelistic efforts in the form of music festivals, citywide church crusades, and revivals; these events will receive massive receptions in the form of council permits, large attendance, and explosive salvations.
