THE LIFE IN CHRST: A LIFE OF DEMOLISHING SPIRITUAL ARGUMENTS

12/21/2024

"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

The life in Christ is a life that can demolish any argument in the realm of the spirit. So what are arguments in the realm of the spirit? These are spiritual facts or legalities that are enforceable based on spiritual laws that precede the advent of time as we know it. For example, under the terms and conditions of Jesus' mandate while He was on earth, His place of primary assignment was to the lost sheep of Israel. And so when a Syro-Pheonician woman whose daughter had been possessed of a devil; whose ethnicity and cultural heritage  had been a basis for  little girl's affliction in the first place, Jesus produced a spiritual  legality, In Mark 7:72, Jesus said, "...Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” Why? Because in the realm of the spirit, you don't give valuable things to dogs (people who go back to their vomit according to Proverbs 26:11-12).

What did the Master imply here? He implied that His mission was first to the Jews and not to Gentiles, who at that time, were alienated from God. But she cast down that legality with higher legality that Jesus could bless her too. "And she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs” (Mark 7:28). And of course, Jesus used her words to eject the devil from her daughter.

The life in Christ is very similar in terms of dealing with adverse situations that are backed by legal arguments. For example, maybe in the flesh, people related to you by blood, experience a particular challenge. Maybe they find it difficult to stay married, get pregnant or are prone to alcoholism. That's a clear sign of a spiritual argument that has produced and perpetuated that situation and this is the experience of some Christians. But the man or woman in Christ has a greater spiritual truth in John 1:12-13: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." This means that the argument of the bloodline or epigenetics can be cast down by the truth that you have not been of blood, of the will of the flesh or of the will of man but of God. And if nothing can limit, obstruct or seduce God, nothing can limit, obstruct or seduce you.

This is why Peter writes, "Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue," (2 Peter 1:2-3). Notice that the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord is how God's divine power to live the God life is ushered into and through our being. 2 Peter 1:4 says that this divine knowledge is the means "by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

If you are in Christ, you have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Nothing that plagues people can plague you. But you have God to respond with higher spiritual truths from the Word of God and demolish every argument that pretends to be reality. There is no poverty to you. There is no bondage to you. And there can be no limitation to you. The man or woman in Christ has overcome the world and its system. Enforce it by the truth of God's word on your lips.

Have a great day

Faith-Filled Confession

As the Father has life in Himself, so has He given to me to have His life in me. I have the life of God in me now. Therefore, I have overcome the world and its distractions. I have overcome the world and its deception. I have overcome the world with its traps and snares. I am who God says I am. I have what God says I have. And I can do what God says I can do. Hallelujah!
