"Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness." (Ephesians 6:13-14)
Do you know why Youtube Shorts, Facebook Reels, TikTok videos and etc are so addictive? Simply put, most of these materials are designed to lure one away from Righteousness to the spirit of the world. Better still, they have the power to desensitize you from the ministry of the Holy Spirit. They are like bullets being shot out of a gun for which we particularly need to put on body armour and keep it on at all times.
I believe the Holy Spirit, contemporary to our time and all the advancements in technology, would have referred to the breastplate of righteousness as the kevlar of righteousness to communicate the gravity of the threat such that we are mindful of this piece of armour. Kevlar is a high-strength, low-weight military-grade material used in manufacturing bullet-proof vests. Now, someone might be wondering where I am going with this. Righteousness is exactly like Kevlar when placed over your heart.
You see, righteousness is the ability of God, imparted to a person that produces rightness in that person. So when an enchantment like music videos, social media reels and ads are hauled at you, the Kevlar of Righteousness, which the Lord asks us to put on, absorbs the impact and within moments, we don't even recognize that we were hit.
So how do you put on the body armour of righteousness? By minding the things that get hauled at your mind. For example, you see an interesting TikTok. The message is logically beneficial but when you pass it through the righteousness of God test; the Word, it fails. Then you must reject it by declaring that what you have heard and seen has no power over you in Jesus name. That is how you put on the body armour of righteousness.
As long as what you hear or see does not meet the standards of what is right based on the scriptures, then you must reject it immediately. So the next time an ad, Reels or shorts suddenly shows up on your feed, scroll pass it quickly, In Jesus name.
Above all, deploy the weapon of faith filled confession to distance yourself from these materials.
God bless you!
Faith-Filled Confession
My mind is enchantment-proof. And I submit everything with which I come in contact to test of righteousness in God. In the day of evil, every thought weaponized for me to feel, speak of myself, or act less than I am in the eyes of God, is neutralized by my body armour of righteousness. Rather, I think excellent thoughts about myself and I thrive in the day of adversity. Hallelujah!
