THE IMPORTANT INGREDIENT FOR ELEVATION

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” — John 3:30
God gives gifts, but character must be developed. Your gifting can open doors and bring you into rooms of influence, but it is your character that will determine whether you remain there and continue to rise.
Many have risen quickly because of their gifts, yet fallen just as quickly because of a lack of character. Sustainable elevation is not built on talent alone—it is sustained by integrity, humility, and obedience to God.
The Apostle Paul made it clear that in a great house, there are vessels of honor and vessels of dishonor. What separates them is not gifting, but character. A vessel prepared for honor is one that has been refined, disciplined, and aligned with God’s standards.
Consider Saul. He was chosen by God, yet he lost his place because of his character. When instructed to wait, he allowed pressure and fear to override obedience. Instead of trusting God’s timing, he acted impulsively to preserve his image before people.
That single decision revealed a deeper issue—his heart was more concerned with appearances than alignment.
Child of God, this is where many miss it. The pressure to perform, to be accepted, or to maintain appearances can lead to decisions outside of God’s will. But partial obedience or delayed obedience is still disobedience.
Your gift may bring you before great men, but it is your character that will keep you there.
So examine yourself in the light of God’s Word. Remain humble. Stay teachable. Be willing to be corrected. Let Jesus be your standard in all things.
Because true elevation in God’s Kingdom is not just about going up—it is about becoming like Him.
God bless you.
Faith-Filled Confession:
I am growing in character daily. My life reflects the nature of Christ—humility, obedience, and integrity. I am a vessel of honor, prepared and useful for every good work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
