“And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.” (Jeremiah 32:40)
The fear of God is a gift that God puts in the hearts of His beloved. His fear gives you proper perspective of who you are in comparison to His magnificence. One of the blessings of the Spirit to our church body is this fear. Hebrews 12:28-29 says, “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.”
The safety and benefits of receiving an unshakable kingdom stem from the revelation knowledge that ours is to serve God with reverence and godly fear and when we do, accurately, He reveals Himself as a consuming fire, burning up everything that is not in alignment with Him in and around our lives.
Understand that God as a consuming fire will consume is after the pure (sanctioned and sanctified) service you offer but in the process of consuming your sanctioned and sanctified service, He will also destroy every impurity in your service to Him.
This is the very import of His visitation in our lives in this season. Malachi 3:2 says, “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire And like launderers’ soap.” He’s here to not just collect the sacrifice due Him, He is also here to cleanse by fire.
For thus says the Lord to the church: ““They shall be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him.”
This visitation will be characterized by the burning off of fleshly tendencies. It will produce awe and a sense of your smallness in your own eyes. You know, Saul offered a strange and unacceptable sacrifice because he was no longer small in his own eyes (see 1 Samuel 15:14-17).
The fear of God is part of the package that we are receiving with an unshakable kingdom and with it our service to the Lord as a ministry and as ministers will be further perfected. So lengthen your chords and widen your capacity by making constant confessions from Hebrews 12:28-29.
Have a great day!
