THE EFFECT OF CONSECRATED PRAYER

03/30/2024

"But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31).

Consecrated prayers are those prayers that are inspired by the Spirit and void of selfishness. Ephesians 6:18 says, "Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." Notice here that it says all prayer must be prayed in the Spirit. Why is this? You may ask. It is so that our prayers will not go unanswered.

In light of this, today's theme scripture is a deep admonishment of the Spirit for the hour. The Bible says, "But those who wait on the LORD..." Not every Christian will wait. But the select number who choose to wait shall renew their strength. And then, the Bible says, these ones shall mount up with wings like eagles and operate with inexhaustive abilities.

To wait upon means to do the absolute bidding of another. For example, when a waiter waits on a guest at a restaurant, his or her job entails taking instructions on the dietary preferences of the guests and fulfilling their requests. The waiter doesn't decide what the guests eat or drink. The waiter simply serves by paying complete attention to their guest's stated needs.

That said, the Holy Ghost is our guest, and the choice of serving Him what He wants by the content of our prayer will produce growth in our spirits. Hear me; start learning to put aside personal petitions for now, and ask the LORD, "What would you have me pray for you today?" God already knows the things that you desire and can fulfill them in a flash without your asking. Isaiah 65:24 says, "It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear."

The more pertinent question is, do you know God's desires? The moment you start asking the LORD what He would have you pray about, you'd hear pray for so-and-so, or you would get a prompting on who and what to pray for. The Bible says you shall mount up with wings as eagles. For some, "mounting up with eagles" will mean that they will start to see visions, and for others, the word of knowledge will become in operation. Child of God, intercession will unlock spiritual gifts that you have been desiring. Much of the growth that you have desired will only happen when you begin to pray through the Holy Ghost for others.

Jude 20 says, "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit." I know that many of us have been taught that this scripture means praying in an unknown tongue, but it is more than that. The word translated as "in" in "praying in the Holy Spirit" could also be translated as "with" or "through." In essence, the Christian can build himself or herself by praying in partnership with the Holy Spirit about the things the Spirit would have us pray about.

There is a call to pray consecrated prayers of the Spirit and not just personal "give me, give me" prayers. As we yield more and more to this call to partner with the Spirit to pray out His agenda on the earth, the demonstration of the Spirit will be undeniable.

It's time to pray the Spirit's prayer.

God bless you!

Faith-Filled Confession

I yield absolutely to the partnership of the Holy Spirit in determining the content of my prayers. I am led to pray as God would have me pray. And I welcome the cocktail of spiritual gifts that God chooses to make available to me as I delve into praying with the Holy Ghost for people, people-groups, events, and locations. Hallelujah!
