"Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick” (John 11:1-3).
One of the greatest benefits of being a Christian is that you have a Lord to whom you can turn in times of trouble. While many people respond to adversity with logic, worry, or misguided advice, as a Christian, you have the privilege of deferring to your Lord, Jesus Christ.
What does this mean?
Romans 10:9 states, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." The Amplified version elaborates: "...if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." To call Jesus "Lord" is to acknowledge Him as your owner. And if Jesus is your owner, you have no reason to worry about anything.
Consider Mary and Martha. When their brother Lazarus fell gravely ill, they sent a message to Jesus, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick” (John 11:3). They understood that they and Lazarus belonged to Jesus, who had the final say over their situation.
This is why the Bible instructs us, "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time" (1 Peter 5:6). How do we do this? By "casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).
Dear Saint, if you haven’t yet learned this, let today be the last day anything troubles you. You may face challenges beyond your current ability to handle, but remember, you have an All-Competent Owner. The Bible proclaims, "God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth" (Philippians 2:9-10). Every knee includes every situation, being, government, and even time itself.
So, whether you face a financial crisis, health issue, lack of resources, or missed opportunity, bring the matter to your Owner, Jesus, through worship, prayer, and thanksgiving. The Bible reassures us, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).
Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27).
The peace of God is the sovereign word of the Lord about your situation. When Lazarus was ill, Jesus declared, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it” (John 11:4). In every challenge, listen for His voice through His Spirit or His written word. As you declare His response, your circumstances must bow to His authority.
This is the benefit of having Jesus as your Lord. Let nothing ever perplex you again.
Have a beautiful day!
Faith-Filled Confession:
I have a Lord whose word is the final authority in heaven, on earth, and in hell. Therefore, I fear nothing but bask in the rest that is in His matchless Name. I am surnamed in the spirit realm by the Name, JESUS. All of me, my destiny, my contexts, and my fellowship come into complete alignment with the perfect will of my Owner, the Lord Christ. Hallelujah!
Prayer Direction
Thank God for everything He has done these past six days. Colossians 1:12 says, "Giving thanks to God the Father, who hath made us worthy to be partakers of the lot of the saints in light."
