THE ANOINTING OF THE SPIRIT

7/9/2025

“Then He answered and spoke unto me, saying, ‘This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ saith the LORD of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)

There is something I have come to know in my walk with God: no matter what we say or do, if it is done without the anointing of God’s Spirit, it will amount to nothing before Him. Until we realize this simple but profound truth, our actions and words will remain mere religion with no eternal value.

For example, participating in a Zumba class does not require the anointing; if you have interest and can dance, you will likely do just fine. Now, contrast that with a ministry gathering filled with talent and performance but void of the Holy Spirit’s presence — do you know that the absence of the anointing makes both activities equally empty in terms of spiritual value?

In essence, what I’m telling you is this: the anointing of the Holy Ghost is non-negotiable if you must live the God-life.

Jesus was the perfect example of absolute dependence on the Holy Spirit. So much so that He could not do anything without the Spirit during His earthly ministry and even in His resurrection. Hebrews 9:14 declares, “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

Life is spiritual. Make no mistake about it. You must approach life from a spiritual standpoint if you are to succeed in anything — whether it’s for God or for man. God said to Zerubbabel, “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit.”(Zechariah 4:6).

In other words, don’t think of success or progress without the Holy Spirit. Don’t assume that success is a function of your human connections, how many hours you work, or the level of education you have attained. True and lasting success is spiritual!

God told Joshua, “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8).

I have often pondered how people live each day without the living presence of the Holy Ghost. How can there be true success in the family, on the job, or in ministry without the Spirit? I can’t fathom it.

David understood this and cried out, “Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.”(Psalm 51:11). I get it. I understand his heart. I cannot even imagine my life without His precious presence — just the thought brings tears to my eyes.

The reason many are discouraged and disappointed in their jobs, ministries, marriages, studies, and life pursuits is because of the absence of a true and consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

Brothers and sisters, it is foolishness to trust in anything or anyone above the Holy Spirit. The Bible says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD. He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it comes...”(Jeremiah 17:5-6).

Life is bigger than what you see or feel. The only guarantee for true success is the person of the Holy Spirit. Whatever you do, bring Him into it. Let Him anoint your work; align your spirit, mind, and mouth with the Word. Give Him His rightful place in your daily walk, and watch the manifestation of His power in your life.

God bless you!

Faith-Filled Confession

Good morning, Holy Spirit. You are my beauty, my strength, and my grace. Life with You has been a marvel; I cannot imagine life without You. You have made me what the Word talks about. I declare my love and reverence for You today. Fill me with the totality of who You are. Teach me the Word and open the eyes of my understanding to behold Your beauty in my spirit. Spirit of God, I am all Yours to command. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
