SERVE OTHERS FOR THE LORD'S SAKE

04/06/2024

“Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace” (1 Peter 4:10 TPT).

Love and serving others is our DNA. “God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them" (1 John 4:16). Love is what identifies us as children of God. Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another.”

As believers, our inspiration to serve and love is not connected to anything physical but to God. For us, loving and serving people is synonymous with loving and serving God, and this is why we do not take into account the kind of response we receive when we do. It means nothing to us whether we are recognized or not. Colossians 3:7 says, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Praise God!

I understand it can be discouraging when people, for whom you have gone out of your way, tell you that you're not doing enough or that they didn't ask for the favor you've shown them. Yes, it would be encouraging to see those you love and serve show appreciation. But remember that we do what we do because of the indwelling presence of Christ.

So, no matter where you find yourself today, endeavor to serve others, giving special attention to members of your household and coworkers. I singled these out because they are often overlooked. After all, we often feel like they have had enough of our love and generosity. Galatians 6:11 says, “So then, as occasion and opportunity open up to us, let us do good [morally] to all people [not only being useful or profitable to them, but also doing what is for their spiritual good and advantage]. Be mindful to be a blessing, especially to those of the household of faith [those who belong to God’s family with you, the believers].”

Also, pay attention to strangers. Hebrews 13:2 says, “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” In other words, don’t underestimate anyone who crosses your path today. Treat everyone as you would treat Jesus if you met Him in person.

God bless you.

Faith-filled Confessions

Lord, guide me in ways to love and serve others as you did. I refuse to make everything about myself. I prioritize you in all things so that your name will not be blasphemed in my life. Thank you, Jesus.
