SEEING JESUS

09/12/2024

"And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.” (2 Kings 2:9-10)

There is a secret to manifesting your true identity and it is inherent in today's theme. This is why if you have toyed with meditating on the scriptures daily, that ends today. The scriptures say of Jesus that "He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high" (Hebrews 1:3). In essence, Jesus is God's exact copy manifest among human beings.

The idea here might be likened to that of an actor in character. For example, if Brother So-and-So was an actor playing the role of John the Baptist, he'd look wild, unshaven and wear a robe of carmel's hair. I imagine the actor playing his character would also portray a disagreeable recluse shouting, "Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand."

Now, the closest humanly understandable explanation of Hebrews 1:3 is that Jesus is in the exact character of God. And Jesus said it Himself. One time, "Philip said to Him , “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

"Where are you going with this, Pastor? You might ask. Jesus gave us the exact technique for embodying the Father's person. One time, Jesus commanded a paralytic by the Pool of Bethesda to get up and go home on a Sabbath and the man got up and left the scene in the presence of many witnesses. The Jewish establishment was not happy for the healed man. Rather, they accosted Jesus for healing on the Sabbath. Jesus' answer is where the secret I bring to you today rests. He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner" (John 5:19).

Now the same Bible says that "By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, we also are in this world." (1 John 4:17). In other words, the only way to be outstanding in the God life that we have is to do what we see the Father doing.

One way to see is by meditating and until you see the Father through the scriptures, the impossible will elude you. This is what 1 Timothy 4:15 KJV implies when it says, "Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all." The implication is that as you meditate on God's person through the Word of God, your advancement will spread abroad.

Let this be a call to embrace your divine identity. Meditate on the scriptures until you see the Father in them and then let these scriptures drive how you think, talk and act.

Have a blessed day!
