"Rejoice at all times" (1 Thessalonians 5:16).
Do you know that God wants you to rejoice at all times? Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365/366 days a year. This command reflects His faithfulness and boundless power, assuring us that no situation or circumstance can defeat us. 1 John 4:4 says, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." Hallelujah!
Zephaniah 3:17 says, "The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing." Here, God reveals Himself as "Jehovah El-Gibbor," which means "God the mighty warrior." God, the mighty warrior, manifests Himself in two ways. First, He saves. Secondly, He rejoices over us with joy and singing. Now, if this same God lives in you (which He does if you are born again), you can expect Him to manifest Himself through you with joy and singing.
The Scripture tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Ghost (1 Corinthians 6:9). Therefore, we are responsible for giving expression to God in joy and singing. For this reason, James 1:2 (Weymouth) says, "Reckon it nothing but joy, my brethren, whenever you find yourselves hedged in by various trials." It doesn't matter whether times are tough or great; the Lord says, rejoice! Whether the economy is booming or in a recession, Jehovah says rejoice! Rejoice in the good times and in the not-so-good times. Rejoice when you have money in your bank account and when you don't. Rejoice at all times, for God's might is manifested in your rejoicing.
The Omniscient God gives us a perfect description of who we are in Christ Jesus: We are a people of rejoicing. Irrespective of the circumstances that we face, the Lord commands us to rejoice. So today, I encourage you to give voice to the power of the Holy Ghost as you sing joyfully over that issue that appears to be lingering. Rejoice in your health even if you are experiencing symptoms in your body. Rejoice in God's supply even if you have no idea where the next meal will come from. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 9:8 that "…God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work."
Rejoice!
God bless you!
