“Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” (Philippians 4:6)
Many of God’s people spend their time praying prayers like: “Make me righteous, make me rich, make me victorious, make me a kind and patient person.” All of this could be avoided if they were taught right—or better yet, if they took the time to study the Bible for themselves.
Maybe you are one who has prayed such prayers. Listen! God cannot do any more than He has already done in Christ Jesus. In Christ, He saved you once and for all. The Bible declares, “God made Him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Instead of praying to be made righteous—which God will never do again because He already did—start thanking Him that He has made you righteous. Hallelujah!
More power is released when you pray the Word with an understanding of the finished work of Christ than when you pray based on your feelings. Psalm 47:7 declares, “God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.”
If God expects us to praise with understanding, then surely He expects us to pray with understanding. To praise or pray with understanding means to do so according to the knowledge of His will.
For example, it is wrong for a Christian to pray that God be with them in all their endeavors. God is not going to be with you because you prayed so. He is already in you and with you by the Holy Ghost. Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20).
Instead of praying “God be with me,”acknowledge, “Father, I thank You for Your divine presence that is with me today. Therefore, no weapon formed against me shall prosper. I declare safety and preservation in my going out and in my coming in. I thank You, Father, for the ministry of angels actively working in my life today. I give You praise that no evil shall befall me, nor any plague come near my dwelling. For You, Lord, have given Your angels charge over me, to guard me in all my ways. They lift me up in their hands so I do not strike my foot against a stone. Glory to God!”
This is how to pray a prayer of thanksgiving with understanding.
Don’t just pray for praying’s sake. Pray with gusto! Pray with the consciousness that you are a joint heir with Christ.
I love Jesus! Look at what He did at Lazarus’s grave. He said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. I knew that You always hear Me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that You sent Me”(John 11:41–42).
These were not the words of a religious man. Every word from His mouth carried the consciousness that the Father was with Him.
Imagine if Jesus came to the tomb and said, “O Lord God! I don’t know if You can hear me or not. Please raise Lazarus so these people may believe. Amen!”Not my Jesus! Hallelujah!
The Bible says in verse 43, “After He had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out!’”And in verse 44: “The man who had died came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, ‘Loose him, and let him go.’”
Somebody shout Hallelujah!
I look forward to sharing more with you tomorrow.
Glory to God!
Faith-Filled Confession
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for Your divine presence that is with me today. Therefore, no weapon that is formed against me shall prosper. I declare safety and preservation in my going out and in my coming in. I thank You, Lord God, for the ministry of angels that are in operation in my life today. I give You praise that no evil will befall me, nor will any plague come near me. For You, Lord, have given Your angels charge over me, to guard me in all my ways. They lift me up in their hands so I do not strike my foot against a stone. Glory to God!
MID YEAR PRAYER AND FASTING
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
- Thank the Lord and declare that the brethren are steadfast and doers of the Word.
Psalm 2:1-5 KJV
Why do the heathen rage, And the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, And cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: The Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure.
- Declare that your nation is aligned with the will of God.
- Declare that every earthly wisdom is brought to nothing, every evil agenda is cut off , only the will of God shall be established in your nation.
- Declare that the earth is full of the goodness of God and men of our day will enjoy the goodness.
