PRAY FOR LEADERS OF OUR NATION

12/19/2023

"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence" (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

1 Peter 2:9 says, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." Christians have a priestly ministry to stand in the gap between Heaven and Earth to establish God's will on the earth through intercession. Praying for us then goes beyond the need to fulfill a religious obligation.

Our priestly ministry requires that we pray for leaders and those in authority. And we must not take this responsibility for granted. God not only wants us to pray for our leaders, but He also demands that we speak well of them. As I have often said, you cannot pray for a person and still maintain a critical attitude toward them. So, it makes no difference whether we agree with their politics or whether we voted for them. That does not dictate our priestly ministry; we do what we do because God requires it of us. In your priestly seat, you are like a vehicle that carries out its responsibilities irrespective of who the driver is. Remember Jesus' words in John 14:15, "If you love Me, you will keep My commands." So, every time you pray for leaders and those in authority, you declare your love for Jesus. Think about it this way: They must be precious and vital to God's divine plan for Him to instruct you to pray for them.

So, today, I urge you to pray for political leaders in your nation. Find out their names and pray for them individually. If you live in the United States, I call on you to pray for President Joe Biden and His family. Pray that he will be guided by God's wisdom and for God's will to be done through him.

Here are a few ways to pray for leaders:

• Pray that God will cause them to yield to His righteous counsel.

• Pray that they will lead with the fear of the Lord in their hearts.

• Pray for legislation, policies, and reforms that will improve lives and pave the way for righteous causes.

Remember this: God is pleased when you do this, according to 1 Timothy 2:3.

Thank you for praying, and God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession:

I am grateful for those that God has set in positions of leadership. I will abide by and not rebel against their godly leading. I will pray for my leaders, and I believe that God will use them to promote His righteous cause in my community.

Prayer Points:

Psalm 122:6, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you."

  • Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

  • Pray against plans to use the crises in Israel to launch other attacks in the United States.

  • Pray for The President of the United States and all who are in positions of authority in the United States.

  • Pray for the Church in the United States and worldwide.
