"I will praise the name of God with song and magnify Him with thanksgiving" (Psalm 69:30).
There is no demon or situation that can stand an atmosphere of praise. I'm talking about the kind of praise that makes no sense to the human mind; where people look at your situation and see your attitude of gratitude and cannot reconcile the difference. Listen, anyone can thank God when things are going well. But what happens when you lose that dream job or a child. Will you still be thankful? If you are a child of God, the answer should be a resounding YES! James 1:2 says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds." I may not know about your situation, but when the God of wonders tells you to consider it pure joy, your response should be, "YES, SIR!
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." In other words, praise is not optional. It goes beyond our feelings or the presence of favorable circumstances. Praise is who we are; it is a ministry that we carry out through the power of the Spirit. In everything we do or say, praise to God is expressed. Colossians 3:17 says, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
Someone may say, "Pastor, I understand what you are saying, but it's hard to keep an attitude of gratitude when you feel down and out. When you look around and see that things have gone south rather than north." Child of God, our call to live in the light of God's Word has never been easy from a human standpoint. In those times, you need to make the decision to magnify the Lord above everything. Psalm 69:30 says, "I will praise the name of God with song, and magnify Him with thanksgiving." Praise and thanksgiving places God above your circumstances (good or bad). Praise reaffirms your trust in God. Praise leaves the enemy confused and affirms your victory in Christ.
I am reminded of the words of a great man of God who said that when it looks like things are at a stand-still or like your prayers are not being answered, remember that God is still working. Because even when you may not see what He is doing, He is sustaining some things in your life. So, even when things seem like they have gone wrong, some things are going right, and you need to focus on those things and praise God for them.
So, call to remembrance the victory of Christ in your life and magnify His name with tongues.
God bless you.
Faith-Filled Confession:
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Therefore, my heart rejoices, and I will thank Him with my song" (Psalm 28:7).!
