"The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]" (James 5:16 AMPC).
There is unmatched beauty and power when we pray in the Spirit. It opens the door to endless possibilities in God, lifting us beyond human limitations and positioning us to walk in the fullness of our divine nature. Praying in the Spirit is partnership with the Holy Spirit, who comes alongside us as our Helper to supply strength where there is weakness. In this realm, divinity swallows up humanity, granting us access to all that is ours in Christ.
Paul explained this mystery in 1 Corinthians 14:14: “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.” In other words, praying in tongues moves us beyond the unfruitfulness of the human mind so that its limitations do not hinder our results.
That’s why James 5:16 assures us that the earnest prayer of the righteous makes tremendous power available—power that is dynamic in its working. Such prayer transcends natural boundaries. You may begin praying in the Spirit with your mind focused on health, but God is also working on your job, your family, and your finances. Romans 8:26-27 reveals that the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us, praying the perfect will of God when we do not even know what to pray for.
Paul further declared in 1 Corinthians 14:15: “I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding; I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.” This shows the balance—we pray with our understanding about what we know, but we also yield to the Spirit to cover what we don’t know. Beloved, life often presents battles too complex for the human mind. Praying in the Spirit enlists divine partnership that ensures nothing is left out of God’s plan for us.
This is how we make power available that is effective, unstoppable, and dynamic in its working.
