MY FATHER'S CHILD

10/7/2023

"For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel" (1 Corinthians 4:15).

Being teachable is an important aspect of discipleship. No matter the knowledge of God's Word you think you have, you must remain submissive to your pastor because your knowledge of God's Word cannot replace the position of your pastor in your life.

Your pastor is uniquely anointed for your destiny. God has hard-wired him or her to bring you success and victory. Hosea 12:13 says, "Then by a prophet the Lord brought Jacob's descendants out of Egypt, and by that prophet they were protected." 2 Chronicles 20:20 says, "…Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful." Hebrews 13:17 says, "Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you."

In other words, believe in your pastors and make their ministry joyful. Don't treat them as common or keep company with those who do. Those who devalue your pastor must be sternly rebuked. Be bold enough to say, "Don't you ever speak in such manner of my man or woman of God."

Over the years, I have observed that those who treat their spiritual coverings with honor are full of testimonies. Their lives show growth and increase and are full of God-moments. They respond swiftly to the leading of God through their spiritual leaders without subjecting every instruction to scrutiny. Then there are those who are skeptical about the leading of the Spirit through their spiritual leaders. They are always in search of something new. The Bible describes them as "...always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 3:7). "Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth. They are depraved in mind and disqualified from the faith" (2 Timothy 3:8).

Saints, when it comes to the anointing, be a child at heart. Don't get too familiar with your man or woman of God. The woman with the issue of blood was healed and made whole because she touched Jesus from an understanding that He had what she needed. Others touched Jesus and received nothing. So, be wise!

Faith-Filled Confession:

I am wise to give double honor to my spiritual leaders whom God has positioned to lead me in righteousness. I will make their ministry joyful by walking in submission, knowing that they must give an account to God on me.
