MUCH FORGIVENESS PRODUCES MUCH LOVE

MUCH FORGIVENESS PRODUCES MUCH LOVE

“I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown Me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”

— Luke 7:47

Do you have anything to be thankful for? Of course you do. Take a moment and reflect on your life from the beginning of the year until now—surely, there is something for which you can thank God. And if you still find it difficult to identify one thing, here is an eternal reason for gratitude:

Colossians 2:13 declares, “You were dead because of your sins… Then God made you alive with Christ, for He forgave all our sins.”

If nothing else, that truth alone should move your heart to say, “Thank You, Jesus!”

Colossians 1:12–14 further instructs us to give “thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” That is more than enough reason to rejoice. You are no longer in darkness—you belong to the Kingdom of God. Hallelujah!

In response to such overwhelming grace, thanksgiving should be our natural posture. In yesterday’s devotional, we saw that love compels giving. “For God so loved the world that He gave…” (John 3:16). In the same way, true thanksgiving does not end with words alone—it finds expression through action. Thanksgiving, like love, is demonstrated.

Luke 7 tells the story of a woman known publicly as a sinner. She came to Jesus carrying an alabaster box filled with very costly perfume and broke it to anoint His feet. Many were offended by her extravagant display, but Jesus defended her by explaining that gratitude flows from revelation. He spoke of two debtors—one forgiven much and the other forgiven little—and then concluded, “Her sins—which are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown Me much love.”

This woman understood how much she had been forgiven, and because of that understanding, her gratitude overflowed in sacrificial giving. To her, the costly oil was only a small token compared to the magnitude of mercy she had received.

So let me ask you again: Do you have anything to be thankful for? And how will you express that gratitude? I encourage you to demonstrate your thanksgiving to God—not merely with words, but also with an offering of love, generosity, and honor. God has truly been good to you.

Faith-Filled Confession

I am a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light. I have been delivered from the power of darkness and conveyed into the Kingdom of God. Therefore, sickness, depression, and lack have no hold on me. I am completely free! Hallelujah! Thank You, Jesus!
