MAINTAIN THE GLOW OF THE SPIRIT

5/10/2025

“Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord” (Romans 12:11 AMP).

There is a consciousness that has gained mastery in many of God's people that can be attributed to the lukewarmness that we find today. It is a consciousness that has short-circuited the flow of the power and anointing in the lives of so many. It is a belief that pays so much reverence to Jesus the Savior and not Jesus the Lord. We have come to prefer the Jesus that is the Savior and consistently negate the Jesus that is the Lord. A belief system that states, “It is the pastor’s duty to pray, fast and be in constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit.” In other words, the ministers are the ones that need to be on fire and those that are not ministers don't really need to. Then you study Romans 12:11, the Spirit of God wasn't addressing just ministers, rather, He was addressing each and every one of us. Also when Jesus said in Revelation 3:16, “So, because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth,” He also was not addressing just the ministers but every Christian. This notion that only the ministers of the gospel are expected to be on fire for God, is a twisted understanding of the Word of God that was produced in hell.

You have to understand that as a Christian, you were enabled, ordained and anointed to manifest the power of God with supernatural signs. Not only were you called to walk in love towards others, you were also anointed to demonstrate the power of God with supernatural signs. Jesus said in Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” These signs are your credentials in this world that you are born again. It's very strange how we have watered down the ministry of the Holy Spirit to just “let’s walk in love.” Yes, we must walk in love, we must forgive, we must be kind to our neighbors and even to strangers, but Jesus also said these credentials coupled with love and every other commandment He gave must characterize our earthly walk as new creations in Christ Jesus.

For us to demonstrate the reality of who we are in Christ consistently, we must maintain the glow of the Spirit. Let me state it again, you can lose anything, but you can't afford to lose the fire of God in you. This is why having a consistent and effective prayer life is a non-negotiable. Because without a prayer life, you will be unable to keep the fire burning for long. I am not talking about saying religious prayers; I am dealing with earnest and heartfelt prayers. Not “plus God minus the devil” kind of prayer. Or that prayer that is filled with me, myself and I. James 5:17 AMP described it as “…the earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer.” Such prayer will cause you to be aglow and burning with the Spirit. And this is what you need to develop going forward. Besides corporate or family prayer times, develop personal prayer times where it's just you and the Spirit of God. Don't treat prayer times as common place. Prioritize prayer times. Do not trivialize it when there is call to pray in the house of God. Remember, your fire depends on you praying consistently. Maintain the glow and be burning with the Spirit.

God Bless You!

Faith Filled Confession

I am a burning and a shining light. I refuse to be lukewarm. I reject spiritual bankruptcy. I am anointed, enabled and commissioned to demonstrate God's divine essence everywhere I go. Lord, I am conscious of your presence with me today. Therefore, I subject my mind to think only Your thoughts. I speak your Word only. In the name of the Lord Jesus!
