LOOK FORWARD TO A GREATER YOU

12/29/2025

“Jesus replied, ‘No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.’”(Luke 9:62)

Have you ever encountered someone who defines themselves only by what they used to do? You hear statements like, “In my younger days, I was on fire for God,” or “Back then, I could pray and fast for days.” While those statements may sound admirable, the real question is: What are you doing now? Why did you stop growing? Why did forward motion give way to reflection?

For others, the past becomes an excuse rather than a testimony. They say things like, “I can’t do this because of my past mistakes,” or “I tried before and failed, so I’ve decided not to try again.” Child of God, hear this truth clearly: nothing has enough power to stop you except you.

The Apostle Paul reveals a vital principle for victorious living in Philippians 3:13:

“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have laid hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.”

Any memory—good or bad—that does not propel you toward God’s purpose must be retired from your mind. Otherwise, it becomes a weight that slows your progress and distracts you from destiny.

Here is the truth about your past: it is a cashed check. It is limited and cannot grow. No matter how great your victories or how painful your failures were, they cannot multiply. Your future, however, is a blank check—unlimited, expandable, and full of divine possibilities. God never leads His children backward. His leading is always from the present into the future. When you entrust your past to Him, He takes responsibility for it. You are not required to clean up your mess—only to trust Him with it. When you do, He causes all things to work together for your good (Romans 8:28).

God has so much He desires to accomplish in you and through you, and not even your past can disqualify you from His plan. You were called for purpose, and the time has come to walk in it. Say NO to excuses. Say NO to distractions. Say NO to looking back. Jesus Himself said, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

As you look toward a new season, hear the Word of the Lord:

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth—do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:18–19).

What lies ahead is greater than anything behind you. Prepare for it by spending time in prayer and in the Word. Allow God to speak clearly to your heart, and diligently write down the instructions He gives—because He will speak.

God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession

I am not defined by my past failures or successes. I am who God’s Word says I am. Forgetting those things that are behind me, I reach forward into my glorious destiny in Christ. The eyes of my understanding are enlightened to discern God’s will and purpose for my life in this season, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
