"You who have escaped the sword, Get away! Do not stand still! Remember the LORD afar off, And let Jerusalem come to your mind." (Jeremiah 51:50)
The Jerusalem that we speak about is the Heavenly Jerusalem and Hebrews 12:22 says you have come there. It says, "But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels..." To avoid doubt, the spiritual location known as Jerusalem may also be interchangeably referred to as Mount Zion or the city of the living God.
So, when did you come to this heavenly Jerusalem and what did you come as? The Bible says, "...Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother" (Galatians 4:26) and to explain further Psalm 87: 2-5 says, "The LORD loves the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God! Selah. “I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to those who know Me; Behold, O Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia: ‘This one was born there.’ ” And of Zion, it will be said, “This one and that one were born in her, And the Most High Himself shall establish her.” In essence, we came to the heavenly Jerusalem by the new birth, she is our mother because we were born in her. Hallelujah!
Our status having been born in the city of the living God, therefore, is that of citizens. Philippians 3:20 lets us know that "...our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ". So when the prophet says by the Spirit, "let Jerusalem come to your mind", the Lord is saying to remember your rights as a citizen of the heavenly Jerusalem.
An apt example would be United States citizens threatened or caught in the middle of a civil conflict in a foreign country. If the fact of their citizenship comes to mind in that situation, their immediate response might be to phone the United States mission in that country to state their location or head to the embassy as safely as possible. This is even more so for you because you are protected by the greatest government on earth with rights and privileges unimaginable.
Now one of these rights is access to angelic assistance. The Bible says in the same Hebrews 12:22 that in Jerusalem, we are surrounded by an innumerable company of angels. Oh glory to God!!!! Angels to help with all kinds of issues and situations. Angels that bring revelations, serve and protect. Angels that manifest physically to remove obstacles from your path. Hebrews 1:14 says, "Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?"
One time Elisha was surrounded by a whole army of Syrians and his servant was disturbed by the situation. "Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. And when the Syrians came down against him, Elisha prayed to the LORD and said, “Please strike this people with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness in accordance with the prayer of Elisha." (2 Kings 6:17-18)
Elisha was aware of an innumerable company of angels to serve and protect him and so should you. The Bible says that God gives "...His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways" (Psalm 91:11). To take advantage of this innumerable company of angels, prayer is all-important. The Bible says Elisha prayed and the angels went into action. However, your spirit is purpose-built to interact with angels. 1 Corinthians 13:1 says, "If I speak with tongues of men or of angels..."
Whenever you get into a difficult situation, let the angelic assistance available to you in Zion come to mind as you speak in other tongues.
Have a blessed day
Faith-Filled Confession
I acknowledge the innumerable company of angels that is accessible to me through prayer. Because of their ministry, I will never be stranded in this life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
