JOIN YOURSELF TO THIS CHARIOT

"Then the Spirit said to Philip, 'Go near and overtake this chariot.'" — Acts 8:29

Philip was in the middle of an assignment when the Holy Spirit redirected him. He was told to go near a chariot carrying an Ethiopian official who was reading the Scriptures but did not understand what he was reading.

Philip did not know everything about the man, but he obeyed the instruction of the Spirit.

He went near. He listened. He engaged him.And he opened the Scriptures and preached Jesus. That encounter resulted in the Ethiopian believing and being baptized. What a powerful reminder that divine opportunities often look like ordinary interruptions.

There are people God is placing in your path who need what you carry. Someone may be searching for answers, confused about God's Word, asking questions about faith. Someone may simply need someone to come alongside them and point them to Jesus.

The instruction to Philip was simple: “Go near.” Sometimes we are waiting for a dramatic assignment from God when He is simply asking us to pay attention to the person already in front of us.

So, don’t be so focused on where you are going that you miss the divine appointments God has placed along the way. Your workplace, neighborhood, family or even friendships may be a chariot. That conversation you almost avoided may be a chariot.

The Holy Spirit knows where the hungry hearts are.

Your responsibility is to listen and obey.

Philip's obedience connected him to someone who was ready to hear about Jesus. Your obedience may connect you to someone who is waiting for the very message, encouragement, prayer, or demonstration of love that God wants to deliver through you.

Child of God, don't merely pray for opportunities—recognize them.

When the Spirit says, “Go near,” go near. When He says, “Speak,” speak. Whatever the Spirit of God says to you, don’t hesitate. Join yourself to the chariot. Someone may be waiting for the Christ you carry.

Faith-Filled Confession

I am sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. I recognize divine opportunities and respond with obedience. I am willing to go near, listen, serve, encourage, and share the Gospel with those God places in my path. I will not miss divine appointments because of distraction, fear, or convenience. Christ in me is the hope of glory, and I am available to reveal Him to others. I join myself to the chariot and allow the Holy Spirit to use me to reach lives for Jesus. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
