JESUS AND ME: A LIFE OF EXCELLENCE

03/24/2024

"And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence" (Colossians 1:18).

In today's theme scripture, the Bible says, Jesus is the Head of the Church and then goes on to describe the Church as "the beginning..."

The beginning of what? You might ask. The beginning of life on earth. The Bible says, "Death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come" (Roman 5:14). And death continued to reign because no one could satisfy the demands of justice established by the law of Moses until Jesus came. Acts 13:39 says, "and by Him [Jesus] everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses."

If you have believed in Jesus, then you are alive. This means that those who have yet to believe in Jesus as their God, remain dead. They may breathe, play, work, raise families, and even live across the street from you, but they abide in death. They may not know the reality of their dire state, otherwise they would come to Jesus. But you do.

The other part of today's theme scripture says that the Church exists so "...that in all things He [Jesus] may have the preeminence" (Colossians 1:18). This means that in every facet of life, the Church ought to display its superiority. You ought to be the lifelong "employee of the month" at your place of work as long as you work there. You ought to be the best in your class if you are a student. You ought to be the best businessperson in your industry. That's the reason you have His life in you.

But more than this, you ought to be a spectacle in your world because that's what will draw people to you. Your excellence is the door to preaching the gospel with massive reception. Acts 1:1 says, "The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach," Primacy is given to Jesus' excellence ahead of His teachings.

For some, rising to the life of excellence might just be what is missing in getting others to accompany you to church. So, switch on your excellence and dominate your sphere of influence in the name of Jesus.

Have a great day!

Faith-Filled Confession

I was born with a life of excellence. I demonstrate the superiority of the divine life wherever I find myself. The life of Jesus in me is the super life and I dominate with it until others are gravitating to the brightness of results. Hallelujah!
