IT BELONGS TO GOD

1/27/2026

“And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it…’” (Mark 11:3)

Scripture tells us plainly, “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2). To truly understand faithfulness in stewardship, we must first recognize a foundational truth: everything we have came from God. James 1:17 declares, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights.” Nothing in our possession originated with us.

In reality, all that we have belongs to God. This is why Scripture calls us joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). Psalm 24:1 puts it beyond debate: “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.”Your family, business, career, influence, talents, finances, and resources are first God’s before they ever came into your hands. You are not an owner—you are a steward. And God expects that what He has entrusted to you will be used to advance His purpose in the earth.

In Mark 11, Jesus was about to fulfill prophecy by making His triumphant entry into Jerusalem. He instructed two disciples to untie a colt and bring it to Him, adding these powerful words: “If anyone asks why you are doing this, say, ‘The Lord has need of it.’” That colt did not belong to the disciples, yet Jesus claimed it because it was already His. The owner may not have planned to release it that day, but when God called for it, it had to be released.

In the same way, God has need of some of the things He has placed in your care. There are assignments written in heaven, purposes yet to be fulfilled, and answers to prayer that are waiting on your obedience. Sometimes, God’s plan requires you to release something you were not planning to let go of—but faith responds when God calls.

The question, then, is simple: what is God asking you to release? When you understand stewardship, releasing becomes an act of worship, not loss. Apostle Paul puts it this way: “What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not?” (1 Corinthians 4:7). Everything we have is by grace, and everything we have is meant to serve His purpose.

Recognize God in all things. Serve Him with humility. And when He says, “The Lord has need of it,” respond with willing obedience—knowing that nothing released to God is ever truly lost.

God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession

“Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all. Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all.”
