INTERNALIZE THE WORD

“And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” — 1 John 5:14–15

The evidence that God heard your prayer is not what you see; it is what He has said. If God said you are healed, don’t wait until you see or feel healed to know that you are healed. The proof is the Word.

As a pastor, nothing thrills me more than hearing people share testimonies of how they prayed and God answered. It is one of the most amazing things to witness. But we must be careful not to build our faith on the changed situation rather than on the Word that produced the change. Why? Because anything that is not first rooted in the Word will ultimately fade away. Your circumstances are not the proof that God heard you. His Word is.

When you pray according to God’s will, the Bible says you have the assurance that He hears you. Your confidence, therefore, must not be based on what happens after you pray. Your confidence must be based on what God has already said.

The challenge is that we often put our faith in the changed situation instead of in the Word of God. Saint, your faith is often tested in the space between “I prayed” and “I see the answer with my eyes.” That space can be uncomfortable. You may look at your situation and think, “Nothing is happening.” But faith does not live by appearances. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).

In other words, a changed situation is not the proof that God did it. The Word is the proof. The situation may change again, but the Word of God remains forever.

Listen, the enemy would love to use delayed circumstances to make you question God’s faithfulness. He wants you to interpret God through your circumstances instead of interpreting your circumstances through God’s Word. Don’t do it! Circumstances change. People change. Seasons change. But God does not change (Malachi 3:6).

If you prayed and the situation appears unchanged, keep your focus on the Word. If it looks worse, keep looking at the Word. If you cannot yet see how God will work it out, keep looking at the Word. Your confidence is not in what you can figure out; your confidence is in the God who has spoken.

Philippians 4:6 tells us to bring everything to God through prayer and thanksgiving. Notice the thanksgiving. You can thank God before you see the answer because your thanksgiving is an expression of confidence in His faithfulness. You are saying, “Father, I may not see it yet, but I trust Your Word.”

So, don’t internalize the situation; internalize the Word! Let God’s Word become more real to you than the report of your circumstances. When the situation speaks fear, answer with the Word. When the situation speaks lack, answer with the Word. When the situation speaks defeat, answer with the Word.

Stand your ground. Stay in the Word. Keep believing. Keep giving thanks. God heard you, and because He heard you, you can trust Him with the outcome.

FAITH-FILLED CONFESSION

I trust God completely. I will not allow my circumstances to determine my confidence in Him. God has heard my prayer, and His Word is my evidence. I refuse anxiety, fear, and doubt. I choose faith, thanksgiving, and steadfastness. I believe God’s Word, I stand on His promises, and I refuse to be moved by what I see. God is faithful. His Word is working in my life, and everything is working together for my good. I will not internalize the situation; I will internalize the Word. Hallelujah!
