"I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;" (1 Corinthians 14:18)
What inspires you as a believer? It is important that you pay attention to the things that inspire you. You know, if you were just going to live on earth for 70, 80 or perhaps, 120 years, then the mansions and luxuries of this world would offer a good source of motivation to pursue and acquire. The truth is that you are going to live forever and so the horizon for the things that inspire you must shift to things that are eternal.
In today's theme scriptures, Paul tells us that he speaks in tongues more than an entire church. I dare say that where some struggle to pray in tongues for thirty minutes, Paul might have spoken in tongues for days on end in a single prayer session. In the annals of church history, it is well-documented that one time, Apostle Ayo Babalola began a prayer session and didn't finish praying until the seventh day. The technology for praying like this is still available. Psalm 80:18 says, "So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name." You cannot pray like this without the quickening of the Lord but first, you must be inspired to want to spend time with the Lord like this.
Revelation 4:8 says, "The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” In another instance, picture this for a second and let the Holy Spirit inspire this kind of worship from you. The Bible says,"...they do not rest..." Imagine, just worshipping the Lord until all you can say to Him is “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” Can you let the Holy Spirit gain an ascendancy that allows you to worship the Lord like this for hours on end? You can. It's possible.
In the final instance, we have been talking about the spirit, soul and body and the process it entails for these three being joined to the Lord. However, one man that was absolutely joined to the Lord in all three areas, that wasn't Jesus, was Phillip the evangelist. How do we know this? The Holy Spirit had control of his spirit, soul and body. At one point the Spirit said to Phillip concerning the Ethiopian official who had concluded a visit to Jerusalem, "Go near and join thyself to this chariot" (Romans 8:29) and Phillip did. And after he had won the eunuch to Christ and baptized him, the Bible says, "Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more, and he went on his way rejoicing. But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea." (Acts 8:39-40). God had been so fused with Philip that the Holy Spirit could teleport him to his next assignment physically. Now, this should inspire a possibility in your mind that you too could become so fused with the Lord that He carries you to where He wants you to be, of His volition.
The reason for inspiration is that it enables us to place a demand on ourselves about possibilities with God. You can pray like and even exceed Apostles Paul or Babalola. You can worship like the seraphim to the point that you are lodged in the throne room of the Lord for hours or days, and you can be so entrenched in God's will and in-sync with Him that He teleports you from place to place based on His call on your life. These are all possibilities with God.
Don't copy men that make the Forbes list and earthly achievement their standards. Rather, let the feats in heaven register with you as sources of inspiration and have a go at such possibilities by the Spirit.
Have a beautiful day!
Faith-Filled Confession
I draw inspiration from the feats I see in the word of God. My possibilities in God are unimaginable and by these possibilities in prayer, worship and evangelism, I bring God glory. In Jesus' name. Amen.
