IF YOU LOVE ME, FEED MY SHEEP

8/29/2026

"Jesus said, 'Feed my sheep.'"John 21:17

Jesus asked Peter a simple but profound question:“Do you love Me?”Three times Peter affirmed his love for Jesus, and each time Jesus connected that love to a responsibility. “Feed My sheep.”

Jesus was showing Peter that our love for Him must be expressed through our love and service toward His people.

It is easy to say, “I love Jesus.” But how do we demonstrate that love? By doing His Word, especially when it comes to how we treat people.

The believers around us belong to Jesus, and therefore, every relationship must be treated with reverence and love.

This is especially important in ministry. If you serve in a church, ministry is not about being seen, celebrated, or appreciated. It is about loving what Jesus loves.

You may say, “Pastor, I can't stand his attitude.”

But it is no longer about how you view or feel about that person. It is about how Jesus sees and feels about them.

If Jesus loves them, we must love them. If Jesus cares about them, we must care about them. If Jesus is patient with them, we must learn to be patient with them. If Jesus is willing to restore them, we must not be the ones trying to destroy them.

Remember, the sheep belong to Jesus.

Perhaps the greatest evidence that we love Christ is not what we say during worship, but how we treat the people He has placed around us.

So, if you love Jesus, feed, encourage, pray, serve, strengthen and correct them in love when necessary. And above all, represent the heart of the Shepherd when it comes to that brother and sister.

God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession

I love Jesus, and I demonstrate my love by serving His people. I choose to see people through the eyes of Christ. I am patient, compassionate, forgiving, and willing to serve. I refuse to allow offense, attitudes, or differences to prevent me from loving those Jesus loves. I serve with humility and without seeking recognition or reward. I am faithful with every person God entrusts to me. I will feed His sheep, strengthen His Church, and represent the heart of Christ to others. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
