HONOR THE GRACE OF GOD

“For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.” — 1 Corinthians 4:15

Saint, one of the most important qualities you can develop in your walk with God is a teachable heart. No matter how much you know about the Word, never become too familiar, too independent, or too proud to receive instruction from those God has placed in your life. And when it comes to relating with them, you must learn to respond not merely from your emotions, but from your spirit.

These spiritual leaders are part of God’s plan for your spiritual growth. They have been anointed to help you grow, mature, and fulfill God’s purpose for your life. Ephesians 4:11–13 shows us that Christ gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip the saints and bring them into spiritual maturity.

They carry a grace and responsibility to teach, guide, correct, encourage, and help you become established in the things of God. Better still, they are God’s gift to you. So treasure them.

For this reason, Hebrews 13:17 instructs us to obey and submit to those who lead us in the Lord, because they watch over our souls and will give an account to God. Our response to spiritual leadership should therefore be characterized by honor, humility, and wisdom.

Never treat your spiritual leaders as ordinary. Honor the grace God has placed upon their lives. Make their work joyful by being teachable, responsive, and willing to receive godly instruction.

Over the years, I have observed that those who honor the spiritual leaders God has given them often experience tremendous spiritual growth. They are receptive to the Word, quick to respond to godly instruction, and positioned to receive what God desires to impart through their spiritual leaders.

Saint, don’t let familiarity rob you of what God wants to give you.

Consider the woman with the issue of blood. Many people were touching Jesus, but she touched Him with faith. She recognized that Jesus carried what she needed, and her faith connected her to the power that was available in Him.

Let me be clear: following a person blindly or placing a human being above the Word of God is foolishness. Submission to your pastor means recognizing the spiritual grace, wisdom, and responsibility God has entrusted to them and relating with them accordingly.

Stay humble. Stay teachable. Stay rooted in the Word. And honor the men and women of God whom the Lord has placed in your life without prejudice, offense, or familiarity.

When you recognize the grace of God upon someone, you position yourself to receive what God has placed in them for your growth.

FAITH-FILLED CONFESSION

I am a teachable child of God. I honor the spiritual leaders God has placed in my life. I recognize the grace and anointing God has entrusted to them, and I receive godly instruction with humility and wisdom. I refuse pride, offense, prejudice, and familiarity. I am established in the Word, growing in spiritual maturity, and walking in the purpose of God for my life. I honor the grace of God and receive all that He has placed in my life for my growth and edification. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
