HE THAT WATERS SHALL BE WATERED

"The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed."— Proverbs 11:25

My mother used to say,“Don’t expect your seed to grow where you planted it.”What she meant was simple: the person you bless may not be the person through whom your harvest comes. Your reward ultimately comes from God.

This is a principle many people struggle with. We do something good for someone, and then we expect that same person to appreciate us, remember us, or return the favor. When they don't, we become disappointed and sometimes regret ever helping them.

But the Kingdom operates differently.

Jesus said, “Give, and it will be given to you” (Luke 6:38). Your generosity, kindness, prayers, service, encouragement, and sacrifice are seeds—and no seed sown in love is ever wasted.

The reward is from God.

Don't get me wrong; it is wonderful when people appreciate what you do. But whether they appreciate you or not should never determine your obedience to Christ. When you serve others, you are ultimately serving the Lord.

Colossians 3:23–24 says:

"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ."

This changes everything.

When you realize that your service is unto the Lord, you no longer need applause from people to remain faithful. You can love without being celebrated, give without being thanked, serve without being recognized, and sow without immediately seeing a harvest.

Think about Abraham. God told him, “I will bless you... and you shall be a blessing”(Genesis 12:2). The blessing was never designed to stop with Abraham. God blessed him so that he could become a channel through which others would be blessed.

And Abraham did exactly that.

Child of God, don't allow your own needs to make you insensitive to the needs of others. You may be waiting for someone to refresh you, yet God may be calling you to refresh someone else first.

You may be surprised to discover that while you are watering another person's life, God is already arranging your own refreshing. Meaning, the seed you sow into someone else's life may become part of your testimony.

So, keep watering. Don't stop doing good simply because you haven't seen your harvest yet.

Remember, you don't have to find your harvest; God knows where to send it.

Your responsibility is to sow faithfully. God's responsibility is to bring the increase.

God sees your faithfulness. He sees every sacrifice, every prayer, every act of kindness, and every seed you have sown in love. And in His appointed time, you too will experience refreshing. In Jesus name!

Faith-Filled Confession

I am a channel of God's love, grace, and goodness. I refresh others, and I am continually refreshed by the Lord. I give generously, encourage faithfully, serve joyfully, and sow seeds of love wherever I go. I refuse to grow weary in doing good because I know my harvest is sure. I do not look to people for my reward; my reward comes from the Lord. As I bless others, God supplies everything I need according to His riches in glory. I am blessed to be a blessing, and my life is a source of refreshing to many. I water, and I shall be watered. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
