GUARDING YOUR TONGUE, GUARDING YOUR LIFE

9/11/2025

"For whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech" (1 Peter 3:10).

Some things can contaminate your spirit and weaken your effectiveness in the God-life. We live in a world overflowing with pollutants—both physical and spiritual. Even the very language of worldly men is filled with toxins that drain the God-consciousness from your soul. If you interact with people daily at work, in school, or online, you must take regular spiritual baths in the Word to stay pure and effective.

Television, social media, and entertainment are often loaded with satanic expressions that defile at a glance. The Bible says of Lot: “That righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard” (2 Peter 2:8). What Lot gave his eyes and ears to tormented him, pushing him to the brink of compromise. The same danger exists today. Everywhere you look, it seems like new inventions of sin are unleashed daily. But child of God, though you live in this world, you are not of it. Don’t let its ways become yours.

Romans 12:2 warns: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you by changing the way you think.” In other words, don’t copy their language. They only speak what their senses perceive: “I am sick.” “I am broke.” “My life is a mess.” “I’m afraid I’ll fail.” Such speech breeds fear, weakness, and death. But you are different! You are born again. Colossians 3:8 says, “But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth.”

Your words matter. Jesus said, “The things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and it is those things that make a person unclean.” When you speak sickness, lack, fear, or death, you contaminate your spirit and hinder the flow of divine life. But when you speak God’s Word, you release life, strength, and victory. Scripture makes it plain: “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech” (1 Peter 3:10).

So choose today to exalt God’s Word above your circumstances. Refuse to let corrupt speech short-circuit your destiny. Speak life, and you will see life manifested.

Faith-Filled Confession:

I choose to speak with a wholesome tongue. I speak only the Word of God. No matter the situation, God’s Word is exalted! I declare I am above only and never beneath. I walk in divine health. I am a lender, not a borrower. I have peace on every side. My life moves from glory to glory! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
