“For whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech” (1 Peter 3:10).
There are things that contaminate the human spirit and render a believer ineffective in the God-life. We live in a world saturated with both physical and spiritual pollutants. The language of the natural man is polluted; his worldview is anti-God. Simply listening to the average person can drain God-consciousness from your soul.
If you interact with people daily—at work, school, or in public—it is nearly impossible to remain effective in the God-life without a consistent spiritual cleansing. Television has become a hub for satanic expressions, and social media platforms are filled with content that can pollute your spirit in seconds.
The Bible says of Lot:
“For that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard” (2 Peter 2:8).
Lot’s soul was not tormented because he was unrighteous—but because of what he continually saw and heard. The same danger exists today. Sin has become innovative, creative, and aggressive. Therefore, as a believer, you must heed and seed your soul with the Word of God like never before.
Child of God, living in the world must never make you like the world.
Romans 12:2 declares:
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
This includes how you speak. The world speaks from the senses. If they feel sick, they say, “I am sick.”
If they see trouble, they say, “I am in trouble.”
This manner of speech produces death and destruction. You do not need to talk like the world to be understood. You are different. You are born again.
Yes, you may have spoken that way before, but Scripture says:
“But now you must put aside all such things as anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth” (Colossians 3:8).
Hebrews 12:1 exhorts us:
“Let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.”
Careless, sense-driven speech is one of those weights.
Speaking fear, lack, sickness, insecurity, frustration, or death contaminates your spirit and short-circuits the divine life of God within you. Such speech renders a believer ineffective in exercising dominion.
So rather than speak corruption—speak life.
If you desire to love life and see good days, you must guard your tongue. Refuse words that contradict God’s Word. Prosperity, peace, and victory are sustained by truth-filled speech.
“For whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech” (1 Peter 3:10).
Faith-Filled Confession
I declare:
I am above and not beneath.
I am in health.
I am a lender and not a borrower.
I have peace on every side.
My life moves from glory to glory.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
