GUARD YOUR HEART FROM DIVISIVE WORDS

"A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends." — Proverbs 16:28

Never toy with gossip—it is a weapon of the enemy and a source of delay, frustration, and division in destinies.Throughout Scripture, Satan has sought to destroy relationships, families, churches, and communities by sowing seeds of offense, suspicion, and gossip. He knows that what he cannot destroy from the outside, he will often seek to divide from the inside.

Gossip may seem harmless, but it carries the power to poison hearts, fracture trust, derail divine relationships, and hinder God's purposes. Many destinies have been delayed, ministries weakened, and lifelong friendships destroyed—not by external attacks, but by careless words.

Proverbs 16:28 gives us a sobering warning: "A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends."  Notice that the proverb does not say a gossip merely hurts feelings—it says a gossip separates close friends. The people who were once united become divided because careless words were allowed to take root.

As believers, we are called to be peacemakers, not troublemakers. Our words should heal, restore, encourage, and reconcile—not divide. Before repeating something about another person, ask yourself:

Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it loving? Will it bring peace or create division?

Many conflicts could be avoided if we refused to entertain gossip and instead chose to pray, communicate honestly, and extend grace.

Child of God, refuse to be a carrier of rumors. Be a carrier of truth, grace, and peace. Let your words heal rather than wound, unite rather than divide, and build rather than destroy. Remember, every conversation should honor Christ and strengthen His people, not become a tool in the enemy's hands.

Remember, the same mouth that praises God should not be used to spread discord among His people.

Today, choose to be known as someone who protects relationships rather than damages them, who speaks life rather than rumors, and who brings unity wherever you go.

Jesus said “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.”

Therefore, guard your heart and spread peace and love only.

Faith-Filled Confession

I choose to use my words to glorify God and encourage others. My mouth is filled with grace, truth, and wisdom. I refuse gossip, slander, offense, and division. The Holy Spirit guards my heart and my speech, and I will be an instrument of peace and reconciliation. Through my words, relationships are strengthened, unity is preserved, and Christ is glorified. I walk in love, and I sow peace wherever I go. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
