"Through Him [Jesus Christ ] we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name..." (Romans 1:5)
We received two vital things along with the New Birth; grace and apostleship. We aren't going to receive these, we already received them. You can say right where you are, "I have grace and apostleship to make all people obedient to the faith that is in the Name of Jesus." Hallelujah!
So what is this grace? Grace is the divine ability at work in a human person. Peter, the Lord's leading apostle, describes grace as "... His divine power...[that gives] to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue" (2 Peter 1:3). Being entrusted with God's ability requires responsibility. God did not give you grace for you to waste, the specific reason He bequeathed you with grace was for apostleship.
And what is apostleship? In the very succinct definition of the word, apostleship means to be sent on an errand. Now, just like all Christians may prophesy but some occupy the office of the Prophet in the Body of Christ, all Christians are sent on an errand but some occupy the office of the Apostle. When Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned..."(Mark 16:15-16), your apostleship was formalized.
The grace, then, was given to back up your apostleship as the required credentials to present on behalf of your King, whose ambassador you are. These credentials, the Master called signs. He said, "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:17-18).
Now when the first believers went forth, they demonstrated grace and apostleship. Mark 16:20 tells us: "And they [believers in Christ Jesus] went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs." Amen. This is the same with you today. Behold the grace and apostleship today and let it drive you to preach everywhere because the ability of God is with you to make true the words that you utter in the Name of Jesus.
Have a blissful day.
