"But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand" (Isaiah 64:8)
We are the workmanship of God, and what this means is that we bear the seal of His perfection. For instance, if you see the three-legged logo of Mercedes Benz on an SUV, you know what to expect in terms of standards. The engine power, vehicle stability, and interior design reflect the workmanship of Daimler AG, which, in turn, impacts the market perception of its value.
Now, slow down for a moment and imagine your worth and value to the world by whose workmanship you are. I mean, what should the world around you expect went they interact or hear about you? Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are His [God's] workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." This means there is a standard output that you must put out into the world around you and it must be nothing short of God's standard.
Now, I have heard the sons of God say "things like nobody is perfect" or "we all make mistakes." My question to these ones is, who do you resemble in our royal family? The firstborn in our family says, "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect" (Matthew 5:48). In essence, do things well at the first go, such that the people around you recognize whose you are.
Otherwise, what do you think it means for God to call you His righteousness in Christ Jesus? (2 Corinthians 5:21) It means that we do, think, and speak right all the time because we stay in tune with our internal constitution, which is the word of God.
Let me tell you, this is not about perfectionism. You are capable of being the reference point everywhere and every time but you must bring yourself to see yourself no less than the Father designed you.
In the Amplified version of 1 Peter 2:9, the Bible says, "But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A CONSECRATED NATION, A [special] PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
As I hold up God's mirror to you today, I want you to demand of yourself works, words, and thoughts that befit the person that God made you. Accept nothing but God's standard and produce at that level.
You are blessed.
