GOD'S WILL IS GOD'S WORD

06/27/2024

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7 KJV).

God’s way is God’s Word, and God’s Word is God’s will. One of the blessings of fellowship is that the Holy Spirit brings us to the knowledge of His ways. It is crucial for us as God's people to understand that God has His ways of doing things. This means that God does nothing outside of His Word, and if we are to actualize anything as God’s people, it must be in accordance with His Word. In Psalm 103:7, the Spirit says, "He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel." Knowing God's ways helps us live in the fullness of the glorious life that the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus purchased for us.

In our opening verse, the Lord introduces us to the system of access to our inheritance as His offspring. He says, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7). One thing you must realize is that prayer is of no essence without answers. God did not ask us to pray to keep us busy. No! God requires us to pray so we can get answers, and the beautiful thing is that we are ordained to receive answers to prayers. John Wesley once said, "It seems like God will do nothing unless men pray."

Observe that there is no ambiguity in how we are to get answers. The Lord has given us His Word as the condition for getting our prayers answered. In 1 John 5:14, the Word says, "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us." Notice that the strength of that scripture is in "according to His will." And God's will is found in His Word.

Beloved, it matters what you say in your prayers because that determines whether or not it will be heard. If God doesn't hear, how on earth do you expect an answer? He said, "If my word abides in you, then you shall ask, and it shall be done." This means that praying the Word is His recipe for getting your prayers answered.

Let's look at it this way: supposing you are a lawyer defending a client accused of murder in a courtroom, what do you think guarantees that your client will go free? Would it not be based on your ability to, from the constitution, prove his innocence before the judge? No lawyer goes to court to tell a judge of his relationship with the accused. Every lawyer takes with him words from the constitution to prove his case beyond all reasonable doubt. The Word is our constitution, and God is the Judge. To move Him to grant your request, there is no substitute for speaking from His constitution as you make your request.

This is why you must feed on God's Word.

God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession

Father, I thank you for your Word. For by it, I lay hold on my inheritance in Christ. Thank you for granting me a life of victory and success today. I win on all counts in Jesus' name. Hallelujah!

Prayer of Salvation

If you are not yet born again, I invite you to make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life by saying these words of prayer:

“Oh Lord God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Your word says, ‘…that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. I believe Jesus died for me and that He was buried and raised from the dead. Right now, I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord of my life. I receive by faith eternal life into my spirit. Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul. I now have Christ dwelling in me. I am saved, I am born again, I am a new creation."

Hallelujah!

Prayer Direction

  • Pray for families experiencing trauma due to missing loved ones. Pray for their peace and comfort, and that the missing individuals will be found and restored to their families (Psalm 147:3).

  • Pray for ministers contemplating suicide. Pray that the love of God will prevail against such thoughts and intentions (Jeremiah 29:11).

  • Pray for the sick in your family. Declare healing for their bodies in Jesus' name (Jeremiah 30:17).
