“We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which He has given about His Son.”
—1 John 5:9 (NIV)
Religion teaches that you are a “work in progress”—that you are going to be saved, believing for victory, waiting for a breakthrough, and that “God isn’t through with you yet.” While such statements may be tolerated when you are a babe in Christ—when ignorance is overlooked and grace carries you—they cannot sustain you for long. Eventually, the faith of others will no longer hold you up. You must grow to the point where you live by the revealed Word in your own spirit. At that point, “Lord, give me, give me…” prayers lose their relevance.
The idea that a Christian is going to be saved or hoping for victory is unscriptural. Scripture paints a completely different picture.
1 John 5:1–5 declares that:
Whoever believes Jesus is the Christ is born of God.
Whatever is born of God overcomesthe world.
The victory that has overcome the world is our faith.
The one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God is the overcomer.
This may shock those who grew up hearing, “God is going to do it.” But when you study the scriptures through the lens of Christ’s finished work, you will begin to ask, “What in the world have I been listening to?”
Like many, I used to think Christians needed constant “deliverance” from satanic strongholds and that praying a salvation prayer was insufficient for true salvation. But I noticed something: those who claimed to need deliverance then are still seeking deliverance today. Why? Because they never embraced the truth of what Christ already accomplished.
It is easier to tell a struggling believer, “Don’t worry, God will do it.”
But the truth—though less popular—is this:Most of what believers are waiting for God to do, He already did in Christ.
1 John 5:9 reminds us:
“We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater…”So the question is:Whose testimony will you endorse?
Many believers spend hours praying amiss—begging God for what He already gave. But if you would embrace God’s testimony of Jesus concerning you, the results you couldn’t obtain through hours of unbelieving prayers would manifest effortlessly.
So, accept God’s testimony of Jesus concerning you. Affirm the finished work—and your life will radiate the beauty and glory of Christ.
God bless you!
Faith-Filled Confession
Father, in the Name of the Lord Jesus, I affirm Your testimony of Jesus concerning me. I boldly declare that I am saved and delivered from every dominion of darkness. I am Your righteousness in Christ Jesus. I am more than a conqueror. I have victory over every situation. I declare that I am healed, strong, and vibrant. I walk in perfect soundness of mind and body every day of my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen! Hallelujah!
