GOD HAS NOT OVERLOOKED YOU

6/11/2026

"Then Samuel asked, 'Are these all the sons you have?' 'There is still the youngest,' Jesse answered. 'He is tending the sheep.'"— 1 Samuel 16:11

Have you ever felt overlooked, forgotten, or underestimated? Perhaps someone walked away from a relationship because they thought they had found someone better. Maybe a business deal fell through at the last minute, a promotion went to someone else, or an opportunity you were counting on suddenly disappeared. Moments like these can leave you feeling rejected, insignificant, and questioning your worth.

If so, you are in good company.

David, one of the greatest kings in Israel's history, was almost overlooked by his own father.

When the prophet Samuel came to anoint the next king of Israel, Jesse proudly presented his sons before him. One by one, they passed before the prophet. Yet David was not even invited to the gathering. While his brothers stood before Samuel, David was out in the fields tending sheep.

To Jesse, David may have seemed insignificant. To his brothers, he may have appeared too young and inexperienced. But while others overlooked him, God had already chosen him.

The Lord told Samuel, "Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7).

What a powerful reminder! People may overlook your gifts, ignore your potential, or underestimate your calling, but God never does. He sees what others cannot see. He sees your faithfulness, your character, your sacrifices, and your future.

When Samuel asked if there were any other sons, David was brought in from the fields. In that moment, the overlooked became the chosen. The forgotten became the favored. The shepherd boy became the future king.

Perhaps you feel like David today. Maybe you've been passed over for opportunities, ignored by people you expected support from, or hidden in a season of preparation while others seem to be advancing.

Be encouraged: God knows exactly where you are.

The same God who called David from the sheepfold is able to bring you into your season. Your promotion does not depend on who remembers you. It depends on the God who has chosen you.

If God has a purpose for your life, no person can stop it. No rejection can cancel it. No delay can destroy it.

Your season has come. Stay faithful where God has planted you. Continue serving, growing, and trusting Him. The God who found David in the field knows exactly how to find you.

God has not overlooked you.

Faith-Filled Confession

I am chosen by God and called according to His purpose. I refuse to be discouraged by rejection, delay, or the opinions of others. God's hand is upon my life, and His favor is working on my behalf. I will not be overlooked because God's purpose for me cannot be denied. My season of increase, promotion, and manifestation is here. In Jesus' name, Amen.
