"And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved." — Acts 2:47

The early Church did not have to manufacture growth. God added to them daily.

Why? Because they were devoted to the Word, prayer, fellowship, worship, generosity, and the mission of reaching people with the Gospel. Their lives created an environment where the presence of God was evident and the message of Christ was being proclaimed.

The Church is not called merely to gather people—it is called to reach people.

There are people around us who need Jesus. They need hope, forgiveness, restoration, purpose, and the saving knowledge of Christ. And God has chosen to partner with us in reaching them.

Notice the language of Scripture: “The Lord added.” Meaning, true growth is ultimately God's work. The Apostle Paul put it so succinctly in 1 Corinthians 3:6  when he said “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.” 

Come to think of it, we cannot save or transform anyone on our own without the Holy Spirit. I Corinthians 12:3 says “Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

But here is what we can do, we can pray that the heart of men be open to receive the gospel. (Acts  16:14). We can preach. We can invite. We can serve. We can love. We can share our testimony. We can demonstrate the character of Christ. And as we faithfully do our part, God does His part. (Read Acts 16:14)

Imagine what could happen when every believer becomes intentional about reaching just one more person for Jesus; the harvest will multiply and the house of God will be filled. (Read Luke 14:23).

So let's believe God for a healthy, growing, soul-winning church—not merely a church filled with people, but a church filled with people who are being transformed and sent back into the harvest.

Let's pray for our communities.Let's reach our neighbors. Let's invite our families. Let's share Christ with our friends. Let's make room for the harvest. And let's trust God to do what only He can do: “…added to the church daily those who were being saved.”

Faith-Filled Confession

I am a laborer in God's harvest. I am intentional about reaching people with the Gospel and demonstrating the love of Christ. God uses my prayers, words, testimony, generosity, and service to draw people to Himself. I believe for lives to be transformed, souls to be saved, and the Church to grow in health and influence. As we faithfully reach people, the Lord adds daily those who are being saved. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
