GO AND DO LIKEWISE

8/20/2026

"Go and do likewise."Luke 10:37

Jesus told this story in response to a simple but profound question:“Who is my neighbor?”

The answer was found in the actions of the Good Samaritan. He saw someone who was hurting, and instead of walking past, he stopped. He showed compassion. He sacrificed his time and resources. He cared for someone who could not repay him.

Then Jesus said, “Go and do likewise.” In other words, don't merely admire compassion—practice it. Don't simply hear the Word—do it. Don't only talk about love—demonstrate it. Don't just pray for people—be willing to become part of the answer to their prayers.

The Christian life is not meant to be lived from a distance. We are called to engage the world around us with the love, kindness, compassion, and power of Christ.

There are people around you who are hurting. And perhaps God has placed you in their path for such a time as this. Don't wait for someone else to do it. Go where compassion is needed. Go where encouragement is needed. Go where the Gospel needs to be proclaimed. Go where someone's burden can become lighter because you showed up.

Jesus didn't say, “Think about it.”

He said, “Go.”

Child of God, your faith should be visible. Let people encounter Christ through the way you love, serve, forgive, give, encourage, and care.

Don't just be a hearer of God's Word. Be a doer. There is someone who needs what God has placed inside you.

Go and do likewise.

Faith-Filled Confession

I am a doer of God's Word. I am sensitive to the needs of those around me and willing to be used by God to make a difference. I walk in love, compassion, generosity, and kindness. I refuse to walk past opportunities to demonstrate Christ. My life is a blessing to others, and through my words and actions, people encounter the love of Jesus. I will not only hear the Word—I will go and do likewise. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
