GO AFTER THEM WITH THE WORD

07/29/2023

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).

Wrong thoughts and confessions will drown you in no time; therefore, they should never be justified, not by situations or anything else. When things appear to be contrary, see it as an opportunity to affirm, again and again, what God's Word says. 1 John 4:4 says, "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."

David, at one time, found himself in a dire situation. The Bible records that when David and his men arrived at Ziklag, they found that the Amalekites had raided the city and burned it to the ground, carrying off all the women and children (1 Samuel 30:1-3). To worsen matters, David's men considered stoning him because they grieved losing their sons and daughters. They blamed David even though David also had his family carried away. This was not an easy situation for David. He could have easily called himself a failure and lost hope. But the Bible says that "David encouraged himself in the Lord his God" (1 Samuel 30:6).

Saints, we must learn to encourage ourselves in the Lord. Depression and frustration allow the enemy to complicate things further. When thoughts of disappointment and discouragement go unchecked by your faith-filled words, they inadvertently lead to frustration, bitterness, and defeat. David was greatly distressed, perplexed, and deeply hurt. Not only because his wives and kids were carried away but also because his trusted confidants considered stoning him. That notwithstanding, David did what I believe we all should do when confronted with discouragement. David encouraged himself in the Lord.

When you feel frustrated, encourage yourself in the Lord. When thoughts of hopelessness come in, encourage yourself in the Lord. Remind yourself of past victories that the Lord wrought in your life or in the lives of others. Remind yourself of God's unfailing love and grace towards you. Remind yourself of past victories and testimonies of the Lord's ability, and be voracious in your faith-filled confessions. Confessing that you have come to your wit's end or magnifying the situation over God's ability at work in you is a sure way to welcome defeat. Proverbs 15:13 says, "A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, but when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken." And when a man's spirit is broken or discouraged, it's like a city without walls (Proverbs 25:28). In other words, discouragement allows for one bad situation to lead to many others.

Child of God, go after every wrong thought with the Word of God. Pull down the contrary thoughts that come to your mind. Don't let discouragement settle in you, not even for a second. Deal decisively and swiftly with every negative thought using God's Word because the Word works! When David inquired of the Lord, God gave him a word, and with that word came his miracle. The Bible says, "...And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away."

Child of God, failure is not your portion. So fear not. God has a Word for that situation.

God bless you!

Faith-Filled Confession:

I am full of God's life. I am not defeated. I am not moved by what I see, hear, or feel. I know that all things are working together for my good. I am a victor in Jesus' name. Amen!

ONE-YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN: Psalm 53-55; Acts 27:26-44

Prayer Point for Today

Habakkuk 2:14 says, "For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."

Isaiah 2:2 also says, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it."

Pray fervidly in tongues of the Spirit, interceding for the nations of the world. Pray for the unhindered spread of the gospel. Pray for the Word of God to have free course and be glorified.

Pray against fear, violence, wickedness, and every form of injustice, declaring peace, progress, stability, and prosperity for the furtherance of God's kingdom. Pray that all malicious and antichrist policies and laws crafted to hinder the gospel are voided and that the name of our Lord is glorified. Amen.
