"And He said to them, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” (Mark 4: 9)
If there is anything that you need to do in Bible, you need to give principal attention to how you receive God's word. Understand that God is a Spirit and He doesn't speak casually. In Proverbs 4:20, He says, "My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings." The only response you ought to give to the word of God when it comes to you is hyper-attention; a sustained and undistracted focus until it produces what it talks about.
Jesus said, "Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.” (Luke 8:18).
There are only four categories of Christians and Jesus categorized them by how they hear the work in Mark 4.
The first group hears the word without paying attention. They read the Bible like a newspaper and as such become victims of all manner of situations because immediately Satan comes and takes away the word that is sown in their hearts ( according to Mark 4:14)
The second group is those who receive the word super spiritually. These are the brethren who receive the word with excitement. They are excited about the revelation but make no plans to retain it or do anything and so the word "endure only for a time." (Mark 4:17). When people in this group are confronted by challenges, they stumble, looking for someone to rescue them.
The third group is those who let the deceitfulness of their status or ability to afford certain palliatives and comforts choke the word of God from their hearts. Instead of looking for answers or sticking to the answers in the word of God, these turn to social media and other sources for the opinion of men and eventually, cut short their potential for a miracle.
The fourth group takes a different approach. These ones take the word of God as the greatest testimony for whatever it is they desire and keep on listening, meditating and regurgitating it until it is their only recourse and result. They keep consuming the word of God until that is all that is oozing out of them. The Bible says, "...these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred” (Mark 4:20).
Everything is possible with the word of God and until you are producing word-results in any situation you are faced with, keep engaging with it until your miracle is apparent.
God bless you.
Faith-Filled Confession
I give the word of God my unalloyed and undivided attention. Therefore I produce only God-results. In Jesus' name. Amen.
