"Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant” Matthew 20:26
Success in life is by the Word. Jesus said in John 15:7, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." You being in Him was God's responsibility, and that happened at salvation. But the responsibility to get the Word in you is yours. To abide here means to stay, remain, sojourn or tarry. It can be likened to a person's primary or only place of abode. In this sense, Jesus is saying, let your life become the primary abode of the Word. Then, you can ask whatever you wish, and it will be granted to you. Hallelujah! Joshua1:8 says "This Book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein. For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
I'll say it again; success is only achieved by doing God's Word. For example, if your desire is to lead a team, organization, your home, etc. Then listen to what Jesus said in Matthew 20:26 "Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant” Interestingly, the Greek word for servant in this verse is diakonos which means a waiter or servant. For example, when a waiter waits on a guest at a restaurant, his or her job entails taking instructions on the dietary preferences of the guests and fulfilling their requests. The waiter doesn't decide what the guests eat or drink. The waiter simply serves by paying complete attention to their guest's stated needs. Imagine the waiter saying to the guest, “I don’t like what you ordered” The job of the waiter is to simply serve, nothing more, nothing less.
So, if you sense a call to leadership on your life or you are in a place of leadership but you are experiencing push back, then do what Jesus said; BE A SERVANT. And when you do, be conscious of Colossians 3:17 that says, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." In other words, serve like you would if God Almighty was standing in front of you; give your best and don’t allow your feelings stand in your way or expect anything in return.
God Bless You.
